We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Employee Benefits Underwriting Manager - HSBC Life.
Participate in the plan design process and formulate guidelines for selecting and pricing coverage for prospective clients
Gatekeep to ensure adequately priced and fairly selected exposures are entering into the company's books
Ensure the benefit amounts, waiting periods, pre-existing conditions limitations and guaranteed issue limits of a product is in accordance with the risk appetite of the Company
Building flexibility into policy offerings to cater the unique health conditions of customers
Determine the enrolment methods and medical underwriting requirements for each product/policies and understand the pros & cons of each method.
Implement Employee Benefits (EB) or Group underwriting policies and procedures. Ensure compliance.
Participate in setting and executing on Group Renewal Strategy
Ensure consistency in the evaluation of risk for EB or group insurance products at time of renewal. Provides coaching and mentoring to team for the following:
Analyze data such as financial condition of the client company, characteristics of employee groups, participation percentage, type of industry, or past claim experience to determine benefits and rates.
Coordinate underwriting activities on proposals, new cases, renewals, and amendments.
Ensure that the company can administer the client's proposed benefit plan design and funding method.
Audit and review policies for compliance and internal underwriting rules
Analyze expected risk impact of specific terms of insurance policies and business treaties during product or business development cycle
Manage and oversee a team's performance on executing Medical underwriting cases
Solid experience in Employee Benefits or Medical Underwriting role in Health Insurance. Additional Life Insurance knowledge preferred but not a must;
A high degree of technical knowledge covering all aspects of EB or Health underwriting, including: medical underwriting, financial underwriting, occupational underwriting, avocational underwriting and residential underwriting
Well-developed analytical skills and strong business acumen
Strong collaboration skills
Good knowledge of regulatory environment with regard to GI and Health Insurance
