Risk Management is an independent function within Citi, which partners with the Business to actively manage market, credit, operational and franchise risks in a manner consistent with Citi's risk appetite. The Risk Management organization establishes the policies and guidelines for risk assessment and risk management, and ensures appropriate controls and tools are in place to manage, measure and actively mitigate risks taken by the firm. Institutional Clients Group (ICG) Risk Management covers Markets and Banking businesses and comprises three portfolio teams focusing on credit risk - Financial Institutions Risk Management (FIRM), Global Industries & Regional Credit (GIRC) and Real Estate Risk Management. The Regional Credit (RC) group is responsible for proactively managing the credit exposure of Citi's ICG corporate clients in Europe, Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America. The RC group works closely with ICG Risk's Global Industries (GI) group to ensure both regional and industry perspectives are considered in approving and monitoring credit risk. Together GIRC proactively manages the credit exposure of Citi's large corporate and public sector customers throughout the world. Responsibilities include credit analysis, credit approval, active monitoring and problem recognition. GIRC works in partnership with ICG bankers and product specialists to make informed decisions through an understanding of the credit, structure and profitability features of each credit/borrowing relationship. Principal Responsibilities:
Credit review, approval and active monitoring of the Corporate and Public Sector portfolios in Singapore, Malaysia & other ASEAN countries with a focus on proactive problem recognition and overall portfolio management
Provide risk leadership in coordinating country and portfolio reviews across banking and product teams
Managing credit exposures within the portfolio, including stress testing and early problem recognition
Partner with Global Portfolio Optimization teams in New York and London to identify and execute risk mitigation to create new risk capacity, reduce risks & concentration and to improve returns / capital allocation
Provide specific industry input and assist in the structuring of credit transactions as required by partners in the product groups and geographies
Leverages "lessons learned" to improve process and practice.
Assesses risk/return trade-offs associated with transactions, products and client relationships
Review local regulatory policies and directives, review gap-analysis to ensure that portfolio norms and practices are in accordance with in-country regulations
Conduct training sessions on existing and new Local Regulatory Risk Policies (where applicable) & Citi Risk policies; Provide guidance and coaching on policies and processes to Business, Risk and CRMS teams
Where applicable, manage ICAAP and Bi-Annual Stress Test exercise for Wholesale Risk
Active interaction with local regulators, Board and Senior Management team, manage increased demands of regulatory requirements, including ensuring monitoring data quality and timely input from key stakeholders
10-15 years of relevant work experience in Banking
Credit risk management experience; is a Senior Credit Officer or qualifies to be one
Knowledge of operational, market and franchise risk is a plus
Ability to understand banking, capital markets products, treasury, trade and transaction services
Strong analytical skills
Participates in training and ensures there are consistent global standards.
