We are working for an international private equity fund which targets market-leading performance by investing in sustainable businesses. The firm has a track record of successful investments across buy-out, growth capital and buy and build. Current assets under management are EUR1.2bn, with the next fund already anticipated, driven by strong demand from international LPs.
Our client acquires mostly majority stakes in dynamic businesses from any sector with an accent on sustainability. Equity tickets are typically EUR30-100m, with flexibility on either side. The focus on sustainability is aligned with global secular megatrends of increased population density and scarcity of natural resources.
The role will be a key part of the German team, under a new Partner, Germany. The German business was established in 2012. Additionally, our client has offices in London, Milan and Paris, with well developed internal structures to support successful growth. The German business is planning an ambitious period of activity which will result in attractive promotion prospects (results-dependent).
The role would suit a person with a strong motivation and interest in sourcing and executing deals, and a highly entrepreneurial, can-do mindset.
Work effectively with the Partner, Germany on the next stage of the growth phase
Manage transaction work independently through accurate and independent analysis, structuring, diligence, negotiations and closing
Support origination through development of individual network among target companies. Start presenting own investment ideas to investment committee
Engage successfully with senior bankers, management and be a second line Board member, articulating a decisive management strategy for a portfolio company
Leadership: can delegate effectively by clearly guiding to end product and being resource conscious; can negotiate term sheets; can elicit excitement from others for new projects
Act as an ambassador for the firm at all times, including during fund raising.
Private equity track record and deal leadership in mid cap buyouts in the DACH region
Ability to operate in an international context, partnering with offices in other European locations
High energy, yet detail-orientated mindset
Generating ideas and driving opportunities with independence of mind
Demonstrate interest in and passion for sustainability trends
Comfortable with creating rapport and trust with business owners
Strategic thinker, able to persuade through evidence-based conviction
A strong educational background from a top university or business school
Excellent interpersonal skills with fluent English and native standard German language skills.
