This is a key role in overseeing the strategic relationship with the Outsource Partner for Property Accounting and ensuring we deliver high quality, consistent results in Operational and Development accounting, including management reporting. The individual will be required to liaise with Investment Accounting as required and ensure a framework is in place for the transition of development assets to the Operational Quality Assurance Team. The role has oversight and responsibility for processes, reporting, banking, systems and other activities or changes required to bring Development and Operational assets in line with Greystar's policies, procedures and expectations.
Key Role Responsibilities:
Full oversight of both Development and Operational Quality Accounting teams to ensure consistency of approach where possible including setting the control environment and following best practices.
Working with the development and operational accounting leaders in the US to ensure we are sharing and implementing best practices around systems and tools, processes, structure and people, continually looking for opportunities to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and control.
Setting up the teams to support growth with ability to scale across Europe and helps to identify where changes are required in the team to adapt to growth or changes in the operating model.
Working very closely with the Director, Investment Finance to ensure all Asset Team deliverables meet expectations and are delivered in a timely manner to meet onward investor deadlines.
Works collaboratively with other Senior Leaders to provide input into strategic decisions and direction of the activities of the Finance Function.
Managing the senior 3rd party relationships with external clients alongside the 3rd party Operations team. This could include assisting in delivery and onboarding new business.
Managing issue resolution with internal and external stakeholders, including the senior leaders at the Outsource provider.
Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with Operations and Development Directors across the European region.
Ensure there is a framework for the Quality Assurance team to business partner with the Operations Leadership and onsite teams effectively and consistently across European assets.
Ensure there is a strategic approach in managing the complexity of different statutory and compliance requirements in the various European countries we operate in.
Outline the strategic approach for financial systems and technology strategy for the teams.
Senior point of escalation for 3rd party administrators.
Manages ad-hoc requests from Senior Stakeholders.
Knowledge & Qualifications:
Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with significant post-qualified experience.
Demonstrable understanding of accounting policies and procedures.
Previous experience with financial accounting and property management software (Yardi experience is a benefit).
Thorough understanding of UK Companies and off-shore SPV structures.
Working knowledge of IFRS within the real estate sector.
Working knowledge of UK and off-shore tax compliance.
Previous experience in working with Outsourcing Providers.
Experience working within the Real Estate or Infrastructure sector.
Experience in IFRS and UK GAAP.
Experience in Property and Development Accounting alongside previous delivery of improvement and change projects would be advantageous.
Experience of engaging and collaborating with multiple stakeholders across the business.
Excellent management and leadership skills with evidence of success in engaging and motivating teams to deliver business objectives.
Strong communicator with the ability to interpret and explain financial information to senior stakeholders.
A positive team player, with an adaptable and flexible approach along with ability to work collaboratively to drive results and support the wider team and business objectives.
