The EIB, the European Union's bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme , is seeking to recruit for its Risk Management Directorate (RM) - Operations Department (OPE) -Mandates, Pricing and Support Division (MPS) - Mandate Management Unit (MMU) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Graduate - Mandate Management. This is a full time position. The term of this contract will be 2 years with the possibility of renewal, up to a maximum of 4 years. Both the post and the possibility of renewal are linked to the GFI Horizon 2020 mandate Panel interviews are anticipated for early October 2020
Purpose Support the Risk Management Directorate's (RM's) contribution to the design, implementation and management of mandates (*) including those received from the European Commission and other third parties, and those given by the Bank to others (in particular the European Investment Fund - EIF), in line with the Bank's risk management framework (* the term "Mandates" comprises special initiatives, financial instruments and 3rd party funds under contract. Mandates support a broad scope of public policy goals, generally have a very high risk tolerance, and are targeted at supporting innovative financing structures and/or underserved market segments).
Operating network Reporting to the Head of the Mandate Management Unit, you will develop a strong, positive working relationship with colleagues across the OPE Department and RM, and also with colleagues in other transversal teams including notably the front office (Operations Directorate), the Secretariat General, Transaction Management & Restructuring, Legal, Financial Control and at the EIF.
Accountabilities Under the supervision of the Head of Unit/more senior officers in the team:
Compile relevant data and information backing RM's input into any mandate related audit, evaluation, data and reporting requests
Support the Unit with the daily requests related to any risk mandate management topics
Provide input, and cooperate closely with colleagues in the RM Regulation and EIB Group Risk Department, for any issues linked to mandate risk reporting
Conduct active research and closely monitor market trends in the areas of Venture Capital & Private Equity, as well as in Guarantees and Securitisation, including regulatory developments
Support MMU in the production of relevant materials for meetings with the different partners in the EIB Group, and participate in working meetings when deemed relevant and appropriate
Support the development, implementation and on-going improvement of initiatives and projects
Support the Risk Mandate Management team and contribute to risk associated issues with regard to EIF mandates and group risk issues
University degree, preferably in Finance, Economics or another relevant subject and with a solid quantitative background
Relevant experience, preferably gained in a financial institution, financial services consultancy, and/or risk management position
Experience of financial analysis and/or credit risk measurement methodologies and tools would be an advantage
Familiarity with credit enhancement/securitisation techniques, and with Private Equity and/or Venture Capital transactions would be an asset
Strong communications skills and the ability to interact with senior management
Proficient knowledge of MS Excel
Excellent command of English (both written and oral), preferably with a good knowledge of French (*). Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
