We Offer An interesting role as a team lead of the Controls and Monitoring ('C&M') function that focuses on a variety of Private Banking front office control testing activities. The Location C&M team is an independent monitoring function and the primary control testing team within PB business, setup as part of the APAC First Line of Defense Support ("FLDS") (formerly known as Business Risk Management or BRM). The APAC FLDS Head in turn reports to the PB APAC COO.
The Bank is seeking to hire a person with the right skill sets when staffing the C&M function, which is crucial in supporting the Bank's Risks and Controls Framework. It is also to ensure Compliance of all Singapore booking platform operational activities with the respective local and offshore regulations by providing support to the Front Office organization on all risk and control related matters.
The role includes the following core tasks and involvement
Working in a fast paced and motivated team of business controllers with the overall purpose to strengthen the bank's control framework.
As one of the experienced members of the team, responsibilities include guiding the junior business controllers.
Responsible to perform regular business controls and reviews with accuracy, consistency and good quality; and producing the results for reporting purposes on time.
Collaborating with Client Facing Employees, Front Office Management and other key business partners (e.g. Compliance, Competency Centers etc.) and acting as a control and review specialist on various key risk topics such as Pricing, Data Loss Protection, KYC/AML and Investment Suitability.
Supporting Front Office Management (Market Group Heads and Market Area Heads) in conducting regular and quality Supervisory controls in a timely manner.
Seek to ensure control results are being reported and shared with all relevant business partners, where the gaps/issues identified are reported on a timely basis.
When gaps identified, suggestions on how they can be closed based on root cause analysis provided and discussed with the specialists and in case of improvements, suggestions such as streamlining the existing controls for possible increased efficiency provided.
Ensure the control and review results are being validated and tracked on an ongoing basis.
Fast learner with at least 8-10 years of experience in a risk & control or related function in the financial industry, preferably Private Banking
Confident personality with experience in handling business and operational risk issues and control matters
Collaborator and a positive can-do attitude
Attention to details for producing accurate and precise control results
Initiative to identify areas of improvements and gaps
Outstanding communication and stakeholder-management skills, particularly in the ability to collaborate closely with senior Front Office as well as other business partners
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and can excel under pressure for meeting any tight deadlines
Outstanding organizational and time management skills, including prioritizing tasks
Knowledge and experience in key PB risk areas such as pricing, investment suitability, financial crime and cross border.
Familiarity with Singapore and Hong Kong regulations is an advantage.
