Drive strategic development of execution of technical strategies to build a cohesive aggregation of data for analytical purposes. Efforts will support the strategic objectives of a business segment, including providing continuous strategic oversight, identifying and executing ongoing improvements, and driving organizational change in how we leverage data to drive the business forward. Partner closely with various cross-functional audiences, including business leaders, analytic teams, technology partners, and other data management/governance leaders to support a more data-centric organization. May get involved with leading business analytic and BI reporting teams.
Data Strategy and Development: Lead the overall strategy for the product domain including working with business, technical and analytical partners across the Enterprise to identify data needs associated with prioritized opportunities. Provide work direction within and outside of immediate business unit to ensure alignment with overall strategy.
Data Strategy Execution: Partner with Technology's Data Architecture team on overall design of data integration, aggregation, and storage ensuring safeguarding of sensitive data. Map out all data sources that exist today within the domain with owners/stakeholders defined. Work with external data partners to source and integrate relevant external data and develop and execute a multi-year roadmap for the data domain prioritized to business needs.
Data Management and Governance: Partner with business unit data governance program to build and maintain a data catalog of data elements captured, including meta data information, and log data quality issues. Control and monitor access to data elements by data analysts, data scientists, and other end users. Leverage tools to document data access and usage on platform. Monitor data quality and report exceptions within framework established by Enterprise Data Governance for the analytical domain. Additionally, serve as data owner for any data and metrics generated by analytics teams that are associated with the domain (e.g. derived data assets). As such, through the creation and maintenance of the data catalog, surface and resolve with analytic and technology teams when there are derived data assets that are potentially in conflict or overlapping.
Organizational Support and Change: Support teams across the business segment to become more data-centric and drive adoption of the use of new data domains. Engage data analysts, data scientists, BI reporting and others across the enterprise in the correct use and understanding of key data elements, which may include leading training sessions when new data is available, providing communications when data issues are identified, etc.
Drive analytics strategy for Wealth Management solutions, including leading a team responsible for WMS cross-organizational business reporting and analytics and providing thought leadership in deploying proactive business analytics including trends around big data and analytics to help drive growth. Participate in cross organizational efforts related to data governance and management - Provide effective leadership to direct reports that incorporate performance management practices, such as individual performance plans, periodic reviews and feedback sessions, coaching, and development.
10+ years of experience in Financial Services industry with demonstrated experience preferably in areas of product management / data management and analytics.
Strong knowledge of the wealth management and banking businesses, including knowledge of investment products and services.
Ability to influence across organization; including executive and senior leaders across business, analytic, technology and staff groups.
Ability to take complicated topics and translate into ease of doing business terms that business leaders can understand to make decisions.
Deep knowledge and experience working with data and technology (e.g. data architecture, data/analytic tools, etc.)
Strong strategic, analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze data, develop compelling solutions and/or recommendations.
Proven people leadership experience; preferably 3-5 years
Demonstrated understanding of key data constraints and requirements (legal, regulatory, technical, etc.) that apply within wealth management and/or specific business segments.
Knowledge of business drivers, metrics, and data for associated Ameriprise segment. Demonstrated experience as a business owner of technology implementations.
