Our client is an impact investment fund. They create markets for end of life waste streams by investing in advanced recycling technologies and connecting the value chain. The location of our client in Rotterdam is also very attractive - as one of the largest petro-chemical clusters in the world, providing the perfect incubation ground for a market that is expected to be worth over €100Bn by 2030.
What our client can offer is the opportunity to work for a green fund, in a fast-paced environment where you will have a key impact on the business and be an integral part of the small but growing team, within a flat structure. You will be highly visible, be given space for your own ideas in a very motivating and dedicated environment. Not to mention the great quality of life this location offers!
Are you a hungry, young and passionate investment manager/investment banker with a background in VC fund deals (developed markets)? Are you keen to join a successful start-up which brings a return-driven approach to sustainability? If you are passionate about environmental issues, possess the technical skills and VC experience to "get the deal done" and are happy to be based in the Netherlands, this could be just the job for you!
As a Lead Investor, you will be a hard-hitter who has solid experience in structuring transactions, preferrably in smaller transactions, used to getting your "hands dirty". In addition you will tackle the challenges of conducting deep deal analysis and assisting the Managing Partners with modelling and due diligence. Furthermore, you will organize, prepare and participate in meetings with target companies, co-investors, transaction service providers and the entire team.
The following tasks will be part of this new role, but not limited to:
Research investment opportunities and analyse the potential investor
Compile financial models and perform commercial and financial due diligences
Draft pitch presentations and handle the communication with external parties
Support the Partners in sourcing, structuring and executing investment opportunities in line with the strategy and financial objectives of the company
Take ownership and work highly independently on various projects
You have an international background with around 4-8 years' investment management/investment banker experience in the VC space - ideally from investment banking or a boutique
Your experience should be primarily in developed markets (Europe or London experience ideally) rather than emerging markets (not needed for the moment)
Business degree with a focus on Finance & Accounting or similar
Genuine and strong interest in a start-up, green fund and committed for the long-term
With a sustainability/impact investing angle, you are used to structuring smaller transactions in a very fast-paced environment
Experience closing deals as well as being hands-on - have had experience in writing the Memos, doing the Due Diligence, the Valuataions, the Pitches etc (you will receive a pitch book and do not need to go out looking for the deals)
Supervise the work of 2 junior analysts/interns
Exceptional analytical skills and a strong attention to detail, not afraid to get "hands dirty", negotiate terms, "sell the story" etc
Able to work very independently and take ownership, as part of a close-knit team
Used to a fast-paced deal environment
At ease in a small structure or able to adapt to one ("start-up" and "get the deal done" mindset)
Good knowledge of Excel a given
Passionate about joining a start-up and excited and hungry for such an opportunity where in return you will play an integral part of the firm's development
Committed to relocating to the Netherlands or already based locally (EU/EEA or equivalent nationals only please)
Competitive salary and opportunity to participate in generous bonus scheme
