The Role Responsibilities
Establish robust valuation control procedures for loans portfolios and related credit products
Ensure justifiable fair valuation assessment for amortised cost loans in accordance with IFRS, Group financial accounting policy and management reporting principles. This includes review of credit approval documentation and legal documentation, preparing valuation assessment and coordinating approvals
Ensure justifiable fair valuation assessment for Fair Value through P&L loans (underwrites (Trading) and SPPI failures (Mandatory) in accordance with IFRS, Group financial accounting policy and management reporting principles. This includes review of credit approval documentation and legal documentation, preparing valuation assessment and coordinating approvals
Perform periodic valuation reviews for the portfolio covered - loans & credit portfolios
Assist in preparation of metrics and commentary for publication in monthly valuation pack for Front Office approval of Independent Price Verification of FVTPL Trading positions
Develop and maintain close working relationships with key business stakeholders including Business Heads, Deal Teams, GSAM, Risk and other finance teams
Provide valuation support including advice on bespoke transactions, maintain an open dialogue on new product initiatives, deal pipeline and potential impacts on valuations and respond to requests for ad-hoc analysis and reports
Objective review of valuation processes for loans businesses and assist with developing best practice and consistency within the team and migration of appropriate processes to GBS in Bangalore, India
Active discussions with Operations, Tax, Finance and project teams to assist in resolution of operational issues, systems improvements and implementations and ensure consistent valuation models are applied globally for Corporate Finance, Loan Syndications and other lending products in scope
Support the development and maintenance of a robust control environment and adherence to all group financial control and risk policies
Assist in the periodic review and implementation of Group accounting policy relating to Corporate Finance.
Contribute to team training and knowledge sharing within the Product Control team
Assist with submissions to Group Finance and Investor Relations as part of half-year and year-end financial reporting and market disclosure
Contact point for internal and external auditors in relation to valuation of loans
Back-up Product Control support for Corporate Finance and Loan Syndications
Our Ideal Candidate
Educated to degree level; preferably with a Finance / Business OR Financial Engineering background OR Masters degree in a quantitative subject.
Experience in corporate finance, loans instruments (Syndicated, instalments, Islamic finance).
Experience in credit insurance / risk participations / other synthetic instruments
Valuation or Market risk background preferable.
IT skills, in particular Excel, VBA, SQL, Python, R, Matlab.
Analytical and challenging mindset.
Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and deliver high quality output.
Lateral thinker who is a strong team player with ability to work independently.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels both written (report and guideline writing) and verbally.
