Job Description Role/Responsibilities: We have an opportunity for a Senior Analyst to manage a portfolio of rated banks and non-banking financial institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), including a focus on Nigeria. This is a challenging high-profile role where you will be responsible to provide insightful credit analysis, to ensure rating accuracy and respond to investors inquiries. This leadership analysis position involves developing an in-depth knowledge of the region's financial systems and institutions and writing thought-leading research on banks, systems and markets. As part of the rating process you will manage effective interaction with investors and issuers alike. You will also be expected to travel and participate extensively in conferences in SSA. In addition to be Moody's go-to person for SSA banking, you will also play a critical strategic role to enhance Moody's visibility in Africa and to coordinate multiple initiatives for various LoBs across Africa. Key Responsibilities
Develop in-depth knowledge of the assigned banks in Sub-Saharan Africa, including a particular focus on Nigeria, and take thought leadership initiatives to enhance our analytics and high-quality research impact
Build and maintain high quality relationships with Senior Management at financial institutions
Write in-depth, high quality, insightful and focused research on credit trends, specific issuers or bank systems as a whole
Perform and present in-depth fundamental credit analysis effectively and comprehensively on a regular basis at rating committees
Develop Moody's franchise by engaging with investors and participating in visibility initiatives (e.g. conference participation)
Lead a cross-LoB African group, pulling together multiple initiatives for various LoBs across Africa
Coach and develop support analysts
Substantial credit/risk assessment experience gained from a financial institution, asset management or public accounting firm, or proven equivalent
Extensive understanding of Sub-Saharan African credit markets, particularly Nigerian financial institutions and their regulatory environment
Excellent communication skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing with some public speaking experience
Strong quantitative aptitude and proven analytical skills
Strong academic background at least equivalent to MSc/MBA in relevant areas CIMA /ACCA/CFA professional qualification would be highly beneficial
Highly organised and efficient, with ability to multi-task and able to meet tight deadlines
Fluency in English is essential; although not essential, French would be advantageous
Willingness to travel across the Sub-Saharan Africa region Ability to ensure ongoing self development
