Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and founded there, Pictet today employs more than 4,500 people. It has 27 offices in: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Basel, Brussels, Dubai, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hong Kong, Lausanne, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan, Montreal, Munich, Nassau, Osaka, Paris, Rome, Singapore, Stuttgart, Taipei, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Turin, Verona and Zurich.
You will be part of an exciting project, joining a one-year-old AIFM, Pictet Alternative Advisors (Europe) SA, which focuses on private assets. As part of a team of five dedicated and highly motivated colleagues, you will cover private equity and real estate funds (direct, indirect and co-investment strategies), together with other Pictet Alternative Advisors teams based around Europe.
To ensure that we can keep pace with substantial growth, we are seeking to hire an Alternative Investment Fund Controller to work with and report to our Senior Fund Controller.
Together with your senior colleague, you will be:
supervising and overseeing accounting, consolidation, administration and depositary services undertaken by Pictet Group companies and third-party service providers;
reviewing periodic consolidated fund reporting (IFRS, INREV, local GAAP) and performance data prepared by service providers for indirect and direct investment structures;
designing and implementing the oversight framework for delegated functions such as due diligence, agreement reviews, operating memorandum preparation, defining of KPIs and organising service-level review meetings;
assisting with the launch of new products and transactions by defining an operating model and processes, implementing a tax structure based on external tax advice received, selecting external service providers, creating bank accounts and reviewing fund flows;
overseeing and managing the preparation of semi-annual and annual consolidated financial statements for investment vehicles as well as liaising with external auditors to cover the annual audits;
managing the loan administration including credit facilities, external loans and intercompany financing;
overseeing authorisation of invoices, payment processing and cash management;
preparing and updating operations and procedures manuals, which will be used both internally and by third-party service providers;
acting as a back-up for the conducting officer in charge of portfolio management, reviewing investment proposals, assessing investment opportunities, ensuring compliance with the investment policy and analysing operational due diligence for indirect investments;
helping with production of portfolio analysis and investment committee decisions.
degree in Economics, Finance or Accountancy and/or an equivalent professional accounting qualification;
five to seven years' work experience gained in direct real estate investment management companies or a service provider specialising in direct real estate, ideally completed with indirect exposure to private assets;
previous exposure to portfolio management and transactions would be an asset to benefit the team;
proven experience dealing with accounting, consolidation, tax and regulatory reporting and practical knowledge of IFRS, INREV and local GAAP;
sufficient proficiency in both English and French to be comfortable discussing complex matters with both internal and external parties.
As the chosen candidate you should be highly organised, analytical, goal- and solution-oriented as well as proactive. We expect you to be able to work and act independently when appropriate and to be aware of when to escalate matters to higher levels of hierarchy.
