Background: The Finance and Administration Department covers the following areas: Controllership, Treasury, and Marketing & Communications. The Controllership Division is responsible for accounting, financial reporting, portfolio administration and budget operations, as well as overseeing corporate resource mobilization to support the IDB Invest's business needs. The Accounting function at the IDB Invest is responsible for all accounting, financial reporting and accounts payable functions. This includes preparation of quarterly financial statements; establishing and monitoring compliance with accounting policies and procedures for all transactions to ensure that the IDBI's accounting and financial reporting is in compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP); conducting and preparing financial records of all IDB Invest operations including loans and other development related investments, borrowings, treasury investments and corporate accounting activities (fixed assets, salaries and compensation, administrative accounting); and processing invoices and travel and other reimbursements for payment.
The Team: The Accounting team within the Controllership Division is looking for a hardworking financial reporting professional to join the corporate accounting and financial reporting function. We are looking for an individual with the right blend of analytical and collaborative thinking to execute strategic and day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities within a dynamic and diverse team of professionals in a growing institution.
What you will do:
Review journal entries for thoroughness and accuracy. Prepare and/or review account reclassifications and supporting documentation.
Prepare monthly reconciliations for corporate accounting functions.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and supporting schedules for IDB Invest and the Funds' under Administration financial statements and footnote disclosures in accordance with US GAAP/other applicable guidance and internal reporting requirements.
Perform data and ratio analysis on financial statement results and assist in the preparation of presentations for senior level decision makers and other financial reports for IDB Invest's investors.
Collaborate across IDB Invest and IDB Group divisions to improve accounting and financial reporting information.
Respond to internal and external requests in a professional manner and provide support in ad hoc accounting and financial reporting tasks.
Lead and execute the design, development and documentation of new processes and automation efforts.
Participate in ongoing system projects.
Skills you will need:
Education: Master's Degree in Accounting for Officer level. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems or a related field required for a Associate Officer level. CPA/CA or equivalent a plus.
Experience: At least 3 years of relevant professional experience working in the accounting and finance field. Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and accounting procedures. Big Four accounting experience preferred.
Languages: Oral and written proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in Spanish highly desirable. French and Portuguese a plus.
