About the Director of Finance (Contract) Role: Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Director of Finance is in charge of the end-to-end process of the implementation and maintenance of new insurance accounting standards IFRS 17 and USGAAP LDTI for the Asia Business Units.
Lead IFRS 17 and USGAAP LDTI Finance work stream
Be the point of contact for the workstream, which include working with Division on project's business case/requirement/gap analysis, communicating Asia Business unit requirements, provide regular project updates, raise issues (if foreseen) and ensure timely coordination with project teams for proper resolution
Ensure adherence to overall project timeline
Ensure Asia Business unit's reporting obligations are in line with the IFRS17 and USGAAP accounting standard
Translate the IFRS 17 and USGAAP LDTI technical requirements into system and accounting requirements
Prepare reconciliations to ensure that the IFRS and US GAAP ledgers are fairly stated after the changes
Produce Asia Business units' comparative financial statements that are compliant with IFRS17 and USGAAP LTDI accounting standards
Be an expert in Group accounting treatment on IFRS 17 and USGAAP LDTI and provide advice to other users on the accounting treatments that comply with the new standards
Ensure compliance with internal regulations, laws, and
Participate and support in ad hoc tasks
To succeed in this Director of Finance (Contract) role, you will need a strong finance background and working knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP reporting requirements in relation to the Reinsurance space.
Degree in Accountancy or equivalent
At least 10 years' experience in financial operations and reporting of life insurance/reinsurance companies
At least five years in a managerial role
Good understanding of the IFRS 17 and IFRS reporting
Experience in USGAAP reporting is preferred but not mandatory
Result oriented with a sense of urgency to follow up with project-related matters to resolution
Proficient in English and able to communicate effectively with people from different countries and cultures
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Work well in a team environment
Motivated to take ownership of work and to seek further responsibilities
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office) and account software e.g. Oracle PeopleSoft
This role sits within the Singapore office of a large reinsurance firm. This is a contract till December 2021.
