As a result of the business growth, there is a newly created senior transnational counsel role, based in Singapore, with regional responsibilities.
Reporting to the Group General Counsel, you will part of a talented team, supporting the Group's Business Units across APAC.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Working closely with the General Counsel and other internal stakeholders, providing practical and commercially focused legal advice and support on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues and questions, to ensure the achievement of commercial objectives while minimising the legal and compliance risks.
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements to support the commercial activities, including technology related agreements, such as software, licensing, outsourcing contracts.
Identifying and mitigating potential legal risks in relation to all company's business units across multiple jurisdictions.
When required, advising on various compliance matters across different jurisdictions where the business operates, ensuring the achievement of commercial objectives with minimum risk.
Providing guidance and mentorship to junior legal counsels, when required
Liaising and working closely with external counsels when required.
Keeping up-to-date with the latest regulations and constantly improving company's policies and processes to be in line with the applicable law.
Any other ad-how matters that require legal support.
The ideal profile:
Common-law qualified lawyer with a minimum of 6 years PQE, with at least 3 years in a reputable private practice; in-house experience with an international organisation would be preferred.
Solid knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework and relevant legal matters related to the financial services, technology and/or Fintech sectors, including understanding of the current technology and innovation trends.
Experience in banking & finance/ financial services/ Fintech/ Corporate M&A/ data privacy/ payments or technology industry preferred.
Experience in dealing with early-stage issues encountered by fast-growing businesses in relevant sector preferred.
Regional exposure and experience gained in the Fintech startup space would be highly advantageous.
Excellent negotiation, drafting and analytical skills, able to prioritise effectively, without compromising on quality
Solution oriented professional, who is able to provide commercially and pragmatic legal advice, based on clear understanding of the business and its objectives.
Culturally sensitive individual, able to work closely with colleagues and other stakeholders across the region.
Experience working in a dynamic and fast-pace environment, fast learning and solution driven individual.
Proficiency in English and good command of Chinese or Bahasa preferred but not compulsory, to be able to liaise directly with business leaders and counterparts across the region.
Ability to work independently, team player spirit, proactive and self-motivated
Attention to details, hardworking individual, who maintains and takes pride of the high-quality work output.
