To provide support to the General Counsel in overseeing and managing the legal matters of AIA Singapore so as to ensure robust risk management, together with the Risk and Compliance functions, of the Company. Primary focus on providing legal support and advice on actual and potential contentious matters (including FIDReC matters) and litigation involving AIA Singapore, its local subsidiaries or its Brunei branch. The candidate is not expected to be qualified in Brunei and will manage legal queries by engaging Brunei external counsel as required.
To provide Singapore law advice on insurance, corporate commercial and other business activities of the Company's Agency, Life Operations (Service Quality), Life Operations (Policy Servicing), Life Operations (Claims), Risk and Compliance and Real Estate departments, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating relevant legal documentation, agreements, responses to external parties and internal reports/standards/policies/procedures. (30%)
To manage, provide Singapore law advice/support and/or coordinate with external counsel on actual and potential contentious matters involving AIA Singapore, its subsidiaries or branch (including FIDReC matters and local litigation) primarily arising from the abovementioned departments. This is likely to involve obtaining and reviewing relevant advice from Singapore and Brunei external counsel, coordinating internal resolution and reporting to AIA Singapore senior management, AIA Group Legal and drafting/review of relevant internal or external reports (e.g. media holding statements, regulatory reports, etc). (55%)
Perform other responsibilities and duties assigned by General Counsel in order to meet any other business needs for legal support, advice and/or coordination with various stakeholders from AIA Group Office and other AIA affiliates. (15%)
