Incumbent is responsible for providing professional level administrative and operational support for the Investment Program within the Absolute Return asset class, which entails investment research and analysis in support of the investment strategy objectives.
Complete qualitative and quantitative research to support the hedge fund team and identify investment prospects, while maintaining support of current portfolio investments.
Analyzes and monitors processes to ensure compliance and consistency with industry best practices; researches and identifies testing methods to monitor compliance with investment policy and agreements; monitors compliance team reviews and test modifications; recommends compliance strategies; and maintains communications with managers and external stakeholders regarding investment process.
Researches and monitors existing portfolios for strategy, performance and compliance; evaluates markets and asset mix; reviews and validates compliance testing and performance results; identifies and resolves testing logic, calculation or compliance issues; and ensures appropriate action is taken to address issues.
Provides analysis and evaluates performance of current and prospective investment asset managers and/or investment sub-asset classes; evaluates risk and return; may participate in negotiation of partnership agreements with new managers.
Develops detailed reports or presentations to identify trends, potential issues, review performance, and to illustrate compliance with guidelines; reviews market conditions to identify opportunities and assist in strategy development; and responds to ad hoc project requests of investment team.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned; including but not limited to travel for manager due diligence and sourcing as well as maintaining relationships with external vendors.
Level (I): Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, statistics or a related field.
Level (II): Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, statistics or a related field and 3 years of experience performing relevant and increasingly complex investment research and/or analysis, preferably in an institutional investment environment.
Level (III): Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, statistics or a related field and 5 years of experience performing complex investment research and/or analysis, preferably in an institutional investment environment.
