This role will directly manage the Personal Trust Operations functions and act as subject matter expert. Will directly lead a team in the US and indirectly in India, that execute operational activities on behalf of complex trust and fiduciary administration responsibilities. Drive consistent execution of operational policies and procedures of the Personal Trust Services business while meeting and exceeding service levels expected by advisors and clients. Work within the trust team and across the company to lead the operational execution of the trust business.
Lead a team responsible for Personal Trust operations within Ameriprise Bank, FSB. Establish and monitor service level agreements to meet and exceed advisor and client expectations while maintaining proper fiduciary controls and quality assurance over all operational functions of the trust business.
Train on procedures and controls and that meet regulatory, compliance and audit standards. Ensure strong documentation of process, procedures and controls for area of responsibilities. Execute against procedures and controls, completely and consistently, to minimize risk. Ensure quality requirements, completeness and proper documentation standards are met.
Cross collaborate across business and functional lines to improve and maintain the highest standards of client experience and operational efficiency.
Establish and maintain segregation of duties to foster a control environment over the operations, including setting and reviewing systems credentials necessary for each role and supporting functional teams that use Personal Trust systems. Prepare reporting and read-outs for meetings regarding Personal Trust Operations activities.
Responsible for operational aspects of Trust Administration including custody arrangements, entitlements, delivery of standard correspondence, coding receipt of assets in to trust, delivering assets out of trust, maintaining complete tax information and updating client information as necessary.
Responsible for operational aspects of Trust Investment Management including reconciliation of positions, bank accounts, and systems. Lead team that establishes new trusts and associated investment accounts, tracks new trust funding, adds or deletes investment accounts within trusts following proper Investment Officer direction and manage the termination of trust process following Trust Officer direction.
Provide effective leadership to direct reports incorporating performance management practices through individual performance plans, periodic reviews and feedback sessions, coaching and development.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
10+ years of trust operations experience (personal trust preferred). Sound experience/ knowledge of entitlements, custody, trade settlements, money movement through Federal Reserve, Securities transactions through the DTC, safeguard mail, cash and securities etc. required.
Complete knowledge of operational management as it relates to trusts, in-depth knowledge of many types of trusts and complex legacy and estate planning topics, trust investment management, project initiation and management experience.
Experience working with third party vendors and technologies.
Experience working through business transformation/ change management.
Strong leadership skills required including communication, ability to influence, and strong collaboration skills in a highly matrixed environment. Attention to detail but at same time be able to see the bigger picture, ability to thrive in a fast- paced environment with multiple priorities are critical skills needed.
Ability to drive compliant and consistent operations and to lead process improvement initiatives within the trust business that may include cross-organizational teams.
Certified Trust & Financial Advisor (CTFA).
Strong track record of Operational Compliance and Project Management.
Experience with technology integrations and using it to drive operational efficiency is an added plus.
