The Operations division is both the first line of defence for protecting Morgan Stanley's financial and reputational well-being, and an essential partner contributing to the firm's growth. Facing off to all Morgan Stanley businesses and interacting with all other parts of the Firm, the Operations division supports a complex, multi-faceted portfolio of businesses in full compliance with regulatory guidelines and the directives of the Operating Committee and Board of Directors. Members of the Operations team have a unique vantage point as the division touches all parts of the business, front to back. One of the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Operations Risk & Control performs various independent functions to ensure adequate controls are in place, through providing an integrated risk and control framework to govern, assess, mitigate and manage financial and operational risk in Operations. The team focuses on implementing appropriate internal controls, business processes, and internal management reporting and analysis to mitigate operational risk and fulfil regulatory reporting requirements.
Ensuring all the daily Client Money calculations are carried out according to FCA regulations and in a timely manner, working with Operations, Treasury, IT and Compliance. In addition to the above daily processes, the team is responsible for the management of Client Money risks and own the first line of defence programme of Control and Assurance testing.
The UK Client Money team is structured along 4 functional areas:
- Production performing the daily calculations, monthly FCA returns, stakeholder engagement.
- Production support change management, project delivery, process improvement, new product approval
The team is looking to recruit a confident and experienced Associate to support the requirements, objectives and expectations of the EMEA Client Money & Asset function. The broad reaching portfolio covers multiple products, regulatory requirements and global functions and will require confidence in multi-faceted process management, effective escalation, clarity in update to senior management and the ability to work effectively and accurately across multiple functions.
Given the focus on EMEA Client Money & Assets, and the rapidly developing environment, this role offers considerable scope and opportunity. The main focus of this role will be to concentrate on the oversight of Client Money Risk Assurance as well as upstream influence around processes and control frameworks.
- Experience of dealing with complex regulatory issues
- Experience of partnering with external and internal audit
- Experience of three lines of defence operating model, specifically in relation to the FCA CASS rules
- Proven experience in a CASS environment
