The EIB, the European Union's bank is seeking to recruit for its Personnel, Corporate Services Directorate - HR Strategy and Governance Department - Employee Relations and Wellbeing Division - Occupational Health Services at its headquarters in Luxembourg, Nurse. This is a full position at grade 2/3. The term of this contract will be 4 years. Working arrangements for part-time (minimum 75%) could be accommodated. Panel interviews are anticipated for end of April. The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs, with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.
Purpose As part of the EIB Occupational Health Services, you will monitor the staff members' health and be responsible for prevention and promotion of health at work. You will contribute to the development of policies and standing orders for the Occupational Health Services and take actions for the prevention of occupational injury and disease through a comprehensive pro-active occupational health and safety strategy. You will also ensure the smooth running of the Occupational Health Services and provide comprehensive administrative, health related and medical work together with the OH physician. Respect of the absolute confidentiality of personal health related data, discretion and interpersonal sensitivity are key requirements of the post. Client Population: 4000 Staff
Operating Network This post is a part of the EIB's Occupational Health Services and you will be reporting to the Head of Division. You will work under the daily supervision of the Occupational Health Physician in charge and in cooperation with the other nurses, as well as with the assistants of the Occupational Health Services. Internal contacts: All staff and consultants. External contacts: Other EU Institutions, hospitals & clinics, laboratories, external doctors, pharmacies, medical material suppliers.
Provide direct emergency care and nursing assistance to all EIB staff and consultants, including assessment, treatment, evaluation, referral (if necessary) and follow-up of all occupational injuries and illness, in accordance with the Bank policies and procedures
Organise and provide travel health advice & immunization to staff going on missions
Ergonomic work station analyses and proposal of adaptations relating to the health condition of the staff member
Participate in identifying, preventing, and monitoring occupational health problems. This includes the follow-up of staff and the administrative management of specific files (long illness absence, work accidents...)
Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in occupational health and support the implementation of plans and initiatives in particular: prevention and health promotion programmes, stress, musculoskeletal and injury prevention, first aid, health education, public health epidemiology incl. handling of pandemics, smoking cessation, weight control, and screening for cardiovascular and other risks
Administer the Occupational Health Services budget and related procurement procedures (this includes management of contracts with external service providers, the management of pharmaceutical and medical supplies, the maintenance and replacement, as required, of Occupational Health Services equipment)
Maintain the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting on the health services' activities (e.g. produce regular reports & ad hoc statistics)
Maintain own knowledge and awareness on new and/or updated policies and rules in occupational health domain (e.g. hygiene rules)
Take care, when necessary, of the administrative tasks related to the running of an Occupational Health Service
Nursing European diploma (bachelor degree) with valid license to practice professionally
At least 5 years' experience in a hospital environment or a company medical facility, including advanced training in acute care and emergency medicine
Good knowledge of travel medicine and vaccination would be an advantage
Deep understanding of the administrative policies and procedures governing the management of medical files
Specialist occupational health nurse training (master degree) would be an advantage
Knowledge of policies and rules in occupational health domain (e.g. hygiene rules) would be an advantage
Deep understanding of ergonomics would be an advantage
Experience (or master degree) in the fields of public health or risk prevention is an advantage
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English or/and French(*) and a good command of the other.
