The SSGA Head of Asia Pacific Operations is responsible for Operations support for the SSGA activities in Asia (including Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore).
Provide high-quality Operations support for the SSGA business in Asia. This is accomplished using both direct resources and through outsourcing to SSGA and State Street group entities.
Manage the SSGA Operations teams in Asia - Sydney, Tokyo and Hong Kong - ensuring they meet their business deliverables. Develop a strong and engaged workforce through development of existing staff and recruitment of new talent as required.
Provide robust oversight of Operational services provided by other SSGA offices (including the global hubs in Hangzhou and Bangalore) and for activities outsourced to State Street (including Middle Office activities outsourced to IMS). Continue to execute on Operations Resiliency plans.
Develop a roadmap for the regional Operations function that ensures alignment with global best practice whilst adequately meeting local requirements. Develop and execute a plan to migrate the Tokyo business onto the core platform where appropriate (e.g. performance).
Improve service-alpha - both to external clients and internal stakeholders such as Investment Managers. Develop a client-onboarding capability that is aligned to global best practice. Ensure the team is able to meet new business demand (there is a material pipeline in Japan, for example).
Bed-in the activities outsourced to IMS and ensure the oversight framework is robust. Review oversight model of Global Services and improve as required.
Provide local oversight for the Business Control function.
Support the execution of transformation initiatives in the region - such as CRD/Rainier.
Support the Head of SSGA in Asia Pacific as required on business initiatives.
Perform local regulatory roles as required - e.g. Manager in Charge ("MIC") for HK and Singapore.
The role has historically been based in Sydney. However, based on current business needs, the role will be based in Tokyo. Given the regional nature of the role, it is expected some regional travel will be required.
