Standard Chartered Bank's Securities Services ("SS") is looking to hire a Product Owner ("PO") for its Custody and Clearing services, reporting into its Group Product Management team.
The Product Owner will play a pivotal role in driving the SS Agile programme management and will be responsible for the overall product deliverables of our custody and clearing platforms ("the Product"), touching trade settlement, clearing, safekeeping and asset servicing capabilities.
The Role Responsibilities
The Product Owner(PO) will be responsible for maximizing the business value of the custody and clearing Product developments and enhancements. Playing a key role in the Agile framework, the PO owns and manages the Product backlog and is ultimately accountable for the successful delivery (on time, on budget) of the Product.
The PO is a collaborative, empowering and decisive thought leader who thinks analytical and strategic, is user-focused and business-savvy with exceptional people and conduct management skills, able to successfully engage with many different personalities/ stakeholders and reach consensus when necessary.
The PO role will have operational/business responsibility for the Product implementation. The PO also ensures that business requirements are adequately addressed in the projects and there is smooth transition and hand-over to BAU.
The PO is responsible for:
Representing the stakeholders, and has the mandate to prioritize scope(functions/features) on behalf of the business and operations stakeholders
Creating and maintaining a prioritized Product backlog, ensuring it is visible, transparent and clear
Preparing project documentation, including planning, associated milestones along with tracking and reporting delivery
Clearly communicating priorities, objectives/goals, mission and acceptance criteria to the Delivery Team
Ensuring the Delivery Team members understand items in the Product Backlog to the level needed
Ensuring that all submissions to project and governance committees (status reports, AED, Red packs, Closure Reports etc.) are of the right quality and are timely.
Communicating progress outside the core Agile Delivery Team including reporting RAG status to PgSC
Ensuring Project deliverables are of the desired quality and have appropriate endorsements/ sign-offs
Transitioning and hand over to BAU.
Owning the review of Benefits over the lifecycle
When requested, presenting the Agile Delivery Closure report to the PgSC or PRC before the Project is closed.
Our Ideal Candidate
10+ Years direct relevant experience in the Securities Services industry with good understanding of business and operational flows, especially on safekeeping, settlement and/or asset servicing
Previous experience in custody services product management and/or operations management
Hands on project management/ business analysis experience
Knowledge and certification in Agile/Scrum & User Centric Design methodologies will be an asset
Strong analytical problem solving and prioritization discipline required.
Ability to engage senior stakeholders within product, sales, service management, operations and technology teams.
Ability to work in a matrix reporting environment, and deliver objectives through influencing skills
Excellent collaborative, interpersonal, communication, presentation and writing skills.
