The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) was created to help foster social and economic development, create wealth and improve infrastructure connectivity in Asia by investing in sustainable infrastructure and other productive sectors. As a new addition to the global multilateral development bank (MDB) family, AIIB works closely with other multilateral and bilateral institutions as well as private sector to improve infrastructure by promoting regional cooperation and partnerships. AIIB has 102 members, including 26 prospective members, with authorized capital of USD100 billion of which USD20 billion is paid in. AIIB is a triple A rated institution.
The Protocol Associate/Officer, reporting to the Head of Protocol, is responsible for (i) providing support to ensure the consistent practice and implementation of protocol in the Bank, and (ii) engaging with the embassies and capital authorities of the Bank's Members to deepen governmental relations through working-level dialogue and collaboration.
Provide a range of technical and advisory support in organizing arrangements for meetings and ceremonial functions related to dignitary visits to the Bank and other protocol-related matters;
Respond to queries on protocol issues such as (i) preparation of the dignitary's program of activities, (b) appropriate forms of address or honorific titles for dignitaries at various levels of government and organization, and (c) coordinating support functions including security and in-house catering services;
Provide support to the Head of Protocol in sustainably playing a bridging role with the embassies and capital authorities of the Bank's Members on the protocol matters concerning high dignitary visits to the Bank premises, as well as the establishment of official understanding on visa/travel facilitation to the Bank personnel;
Liaise with the embassies and capital authorities of hosting Bank's prmises, and if necessary, organize consultation meetings to discuss protocol arrangements accorded to the host provisions;
Assist in planning and organizing all the administrative and logistics requirements for diplomatic functions, including the Ambassador Luncheon, in coordination with the different departments involved in all necessary arrangements;
Ensure that the filing system and records of relevant correspondence associated with each dignitary's visit are maintained in accordance with the existing framework; and
Assist in the review, updating and revision of the Guidelines on Protocol.
University degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree) in political science, public administration, international affairs or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years (associate) / 5 years (officer) of progressively responsible experience in protocol, public information, external relations or a related area in a governmental or international organization.
Knowledge of international diplomatic protocol and country-specific accepted norms, rules and customs
Experience in organizing events/meetings in an international setting is required. Experience in this specific area of protocol, in a multilateral setting, is desirable.
Effective communication skills. Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Chinese is an advantage.
