Some of these processes will be owned by departments (like Legal, Real Estate, Investment Operations,etc.) and in these cases, the DA team will be responsible for monitoring that this data is being properly maintained. The Data Asset group will maintain and grow a robust and scalable data repository that enables rapid development of new investment and analysis ideas. A critical component of this role will be collaborating with Technology to explore new and emerging technologies in support of data storage, sourcing, curation and meta-data management. This role will also work closely with the Portfolio Reporting and Solutions group to assimilate data requirements. Using these requirements, the Data Assets group will meet the data need by identifying the appropriate internal or external source or collection of data elements to derive the business significance. The Manager will work across MITIMCo to help define workflows and data models to support proprietary data storage, curation and completeness. This team is responsible for maintaining the inventory of MITIMCo's enterprise data, the source or sources of such information, and documenting how it is used and how it is controlled.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Manage daily curation of master data and Key Performance Indicators to measure completeness and accuracy.
Evolve and develop the management of the wide array of data used by Global Investments, Cambridge Real Estate and Operations.
Manage data vendor relationships, including monitoring for completeness and timely receipt.
Build Data Governance framework with the objective to identify our enterprise data, source of data, business owner.
Evaluate and document current data flows between core applications. Define and establish workflows and controls for enterprise data.
Facilitate knowledge sharing across teams to develop best practices for the management of master data.
Build and maintain effective relationships with teams across the organization:
Partner with data consumers to ensure a clear understanding of data needs;
Develop an effective partnership with the technology and operations functions related to the strategy and implementation of data across the organization
People and Operational management experience, as well as proven leadership in transformative projects related to master data management.
Demonstrated aptitude for and history of understanding differing data requirements and how they all correlate to and affect the broader organization's operations.
Investment management experience is strongly preferred.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively by working within and across teams to achieve objectives; and corral stakeholders towards a common goal/plan.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate important and at times technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to be direct and make clear decisions in a timely manner.
Intellectual curiosity with the ability to quickly understand new concepts.
Solution and results-oriented mindset supported by proactive and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to deal with and thrive through ambiguity, exercise independent judgement, and demonstrate initiative.
Will report to Associate Director, Portfolio Reporting and Solutions Group
Will supervise 1-2 team members
Qualifications & Skills:
7+ years of relevant operational experience in data management, analysis and reporting, preferably in investment management with real estate exposure.
Deep knowledge of the data needs of an asset allocator/endowment.
Experience working with third-party data providers like Capital IQ, Bloomberg, etc.
