The Enterprise Market Risk Control (EMRC) mandate is to bring transparency to the market and liquidity risks in TD Securities (TDS), Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM), and other areas of the bank, by taking a leadership role in the accurate, complete, and objective assessment of all key market risks through the identification, understanding, control and ongoing review of these risks.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Understand the underlying principles for:
Value-at-Risk (General market, idiosyncratic, and migration and default risk)
Pricing and risk management of financial derivatives, including issues that arise regarding financial modelling of products for VaR and risk purposes
Participate in the analysis and creation of commentary into VaR, greeks and other risk metrics.
Participate in the testing of tools related to VaR, backtesting and PnL.
Help to monitor Global risk metrics on a daily basis
Understand the model and operational limitations of VaR
Provide constructive feedback and suggestions on the approach(es) taken in the project work streams on which he/she participates
Participate independently with limited guidance in ad-hoc analysis, and discussions to support different stakeholders
Maintain documentation in respect of the key policies, processes, and procedures
Understand and comply with TD policies, regulatory, and compliance requirements
Develop/program/maintain application for attribution processes
Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Experience in Capital models (GMR, IDSR, IRC)
Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and the ability to learn and adapt quickly
Strong team player, working closely with team members daily
Able to manage team members
Strong conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills
Efficient with working with large amounts of data and complex computations / methodologies
Comfortable with working in a rapidly changing environment
Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables and macros
3+ years of relevant industry or risk management experience and/or accreditation (FRM/PRM/CFA)
An undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or other quantitative discipline
Good understanding of concepts of statistics, financial and risk modeling
Knowledge of VBA, UNIX, SQL, Python an asset
