Under minimal supervision contribute to sustained revenue growth and profitability objectives of the business, handle and proactively manage with a high level of technical expertise all aspects of 3rd Party Liability, Bodily Injury Operations, within Claims Services. Responsible for the fiscal management and performance of indemnity spend on Casualty claims, following established claims settlement and case reserving policies, while ensuring regulatory compliance and coverage interpretation throughout the resolution of complex claims. Emphasis is placed on delivering an optimal client / 3rd party claimant experience through the investigation and fair and equitable resolution of all meritorious Casualty claims and the defense of all non-meritorious claims balanced with the need to protect shareholder value.
Provides 3rd Party Liability, Casualty claims technical expertise coaching for colleagues within the unit working closely with the Casualty Management teams. Emphasis is placed on working in a team environment that supports individual learning and development and the achievement of goals and objectives while creating and maintaining a positive and motivating work environment.
Resolve complex claims adhering to established claims settlement policies and processes
Handles litigated claims as per TD Insurance legal protocol
Execute policies and procedures governing the establishment and management of 3rd Party Liability, Casualty case reserves
Ensure consistency in behaviour and actions in line with company core values and exercise sound judgment in non-routine and complex situations
Proactively monitor legislative and jurisprudence changes and competitor policies and practices
Support the development of Casualty Claims Advisors through empowerment and coaching
Apply established decision criteria triggering the management and resolution of complex claims
Participates in authority committee meetings, trial committee meetings
Make recommendations to their manager on trends with respect to legislative and jurisprudence, supplier relationships and the overall book of business
Contribute to a culture that promotes ethical practices and a high degree of integrity
Execute authority to fairly settle complex claims up to authority limit
Accountable for adequacy of Casualty case reserves on their files
Responsible for identifying and preventing indemnity leakage on files
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the Casualty claims team to accomplish goals and objectives
Provide ongoing support and coaching to support the development of Casualty Claims Advisors
Acts as a role model in openly endorsing the organization goals and strategies
Develop and encourage change and innovation at all levels of the unit and foster continuous improvement and new ideas adopting best practices
Participates in projects, assignments, workshops, and training initiatives, as assigned.
Preference will be given to those with post-secondary degree or diploma and those with CIP/FCIP designation or working towards same
5-7 years of Casualty Claims experience
Strong understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure, Provincial insurance legislation, insurance industry and related legal environment
Excellent organizational skills and strong time management
Strong systems knowledge, skill in excel, word, outlook etc.

Superior interpersonal skills with strong emphasis on team work

Valid provincial driver's license and available vehicle for travel to and from various appointments and meetings
