Our client is an established Investment manager founded by well-known and highly regarded individuals in the private credit markets. This is the opportunity to join a well-funded entrepreneurial buyside firm in the early years of their development and benefit from joining at a key time in their growth.
The entrepreneurial risk is diminished due to this business having significant capital raised, and the entrepreneurial advantages include being first on the ground and the opportunity to work in a small team with great exposure on transactions and to management. The Fund is independently owned but backed by family office capital and third-party funds.
Our client's investment strategy is focused upon providing senior-secured, subordinated and equity solutions for private equity-owned and sponsorless business's across Europe. This is a direct lending strategy targeting higher-yielding returns, not a vanilla senior secured lending role. In this position, you will look to structure complex solutions utilising flexible capital. This is not a distressed debt investment manager, the strategy is focused on higher-yielding story credit special situations for performing business's, which might be under some stress or require a complex solution to their financing needs, alongside Unitranche lending in the mid-markets.
The opportunity is for an Analyst to join the UK investment team, supporting origination, due diligence, and execution of transactions in the UK and Europe. The Analyst will assist the investment team with all areas of the investment process, sit in investment committees and work with external legal counsel, and work on the ongoing monitoring of the fund's investments including meetings with the respective management teams and financial sponsors. This is a highly analytical role where good credit experience and modelling skills are highly necessary.
Main duties and responsibilities
Conducting in-depth industry, market and company analysis which includes a review of investment opportunities and risks as well as detailed financial analysis including financial models and sensitivity scenarios
Prepare and present investment recommendations to the investment committee
Participate in the investment process and support all aspects of deal execution as
required during the development and completion of an investment opportunity
identify key drivers of a business and industry
Analyse financial statements; and
Form a view of relative and absolute value attractiveness;
Assist in all aspects of fundraising
Ongoing monitoring of the portfolio
Skills and academic qualification required
1-3 years' experience of leveraged finance transactions gained at a leading bank, consultancy firm or buy-side credit or private equity institution;
Fundamental financial and credit analysis skills to provide clear communication and recommendations to Investment Committee. Candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to:
Demonstrate familiarity with and understanding of loan documentation and security structures;
Outgoing personality, able to interact well with private equity sponsors, advisors and other market participants; and
Proficient English speaker with preferably one more European language
