Purpose of Job
The Manager, Loss Data Operational Risk is primarily responsible for contributing to the Bank's operational risk event data collection, analysis and reporting program and is fundamental to both internal and regulatory reporting related to operational loss data and capital, and both RDARR and operational risk AMA/SMA requirements.
Management of the Bank's enterprise operational loss data collection, classification, and reporting process, to provide effective tracking, measurement and reporting of operational losses across all significant units of the Bank, its subsidiaries and affiliates
Execution of enterprise operational risk loss event data quality controls
Provision of accurate and timely data for the inclusion in executive reports, and to the appropriate capital management and modelling groups
Completion of operational loss data submissions to regulators and other external bodies, (ORX submissions, QIS, L3 reporting)
Contribute to the maintenance of policies, procedures and standards documents relating to operational risk event management reporting and data governance
Participation in external forums for the ongoing development of operational risk management and data management and analysis practices
Providing guidance, support, and training for entering and maintaining operational risk event loss data in IBM Openpages, (the book of record), reporting requirements and ad hoc requests for internal and external users
Management of the operational risk loss database (Openpages)
Contributing to the provision of regular training and lessons learned sessions on the application of the Operational Risk Event Reporting Standards
Liaising with IT and business users to assess proposed amendments or enhancements to the operational risk event database
Support other projects as required
The incumbent has:
Strong knowledge of operational risk event loss data reporting and working knowledge of AMA/SMA regulation requirements for operational risk capital
Experience of data analysis techniques to support trend analysis and data quality validation
Systems knowledge, including knowledge of database systems and structures, is required, specifically IBM Openpages
Experience with a combination of VBA, SAS, Cognos, Power BI and superior Excel skills
Broad knowledge of a bank's business lines and structure
In addition the incumbent should have knowledge of RDARR requirements and a working knowledge of, and interest in operational risk capital calculation methods
Ability to gather, analyze, organize, document and present large volumes of information in a succinct and organized manner
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
Educational and Other Requirements:
Education in business or computer science with focus on data analytics and data governance and management, and 5-7 years' experience in a similar financial institution.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to prepare communications and interact effectively with senior levels of management throughout the Bank
Strong business acumen and ability to manage multiple competing projects and priorities under time pressure without compromising quality
Strong relationship management skills; ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships
Demonstrated ability to complete and analyze quantitative and qualitative research
Demonstrated excellent MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills
Demonstrated independent initiative and highly motivated team player
Spanish language ability is an asset
