The Specialist Situations / Risk Arbitrage team is a leading European agency player in European special situations with a focus on risk arbitrage. In 2019 we held a Top5 market share by notional volume in European risk arbitrage situations. We are uniquely positioned in that we are able to combine Berenberg's fundamental analysis (100 Analysts in London) with a risk arbitrage overlay alongside access to great long fund flow. The team has 6 members. In addition to Berenberg's fundamental Analysts, the team has access to expert networks and frequently organises client trips/ events to aid clients with their due diligence on transactions.
The team is looking for a junior Equity Sales person to support the desk and act as primary coverage to a mix of UK and European risk arbitrage accounts.
Support and advise institutional clients (e.g. hedge fund and large asset managers) on the basis of our research products and distribution capabilities.
Be an integral member of the Specialist Situations / Risk Arbitration team and take responsibility for the day to day service of our existing client network.
Help sell corporate deals including IPOs, capital raisings and placements.
Work alongside the team in building and expanding client relationships, and developing the business.
Organise and attend corporate and analyst road shows.
1 – 3 years' M&A experience with either a legal firm/ bulge bracket bank or top tier banking boutique.
A demonstrable interest in the securities and capital markets, with a particular focus on Equities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must understand how to focus and prioritise client needs and requirements.
Able to deliver a consistently high standard of work, and handle the workload to effectively meet strict deadlines.
Work in a systematic & methodical way, conducive to a fast-paced environment.
An entrepreneurial mindset and goal-oriented approach are important.
Must possess excellent communication skills, a team-focused personality and a hunger to succeed.
IT skills - a solid understanding of all standard MS Office applications is essential. Knowledge of financial modelling and Bloomberg would be an advantage.
