Key Responsibilities for this role:
To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G plc's operational risk.
To manage the production of the statutory and Solvency II balance sheet and all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. Statutory reporting includes both local and Group reporting requirements.
To work collaboratively with the Actuarial function to ensure reporting is timely and accurate, and that the process is efficient with suitable controls in place.
To oversee third party service providers, measuring performance against defined service levels and ensuring that controls are in place to validate the quality and accuracy of the information submitted.
To manage the preparation of corporate tax returns for submission to the Revenue and to ensure it is compliant with policyholder tax requirements in all the regions in which it operates.
To manage finance operations and ensure effective procedures and controls are in place.
To produce annual budget forecasts and put procedures in place to ensure the company operates within that budget.
To analyse the company's outflows and ensure there is sufficient liquid assets to meet obligations.
To produce an annual Business Plan, considering the financial performance and solvency and liquidity positions of the company in light of the Company's strategy.
To support the development of methods, models and assumptions for IFRS 17 reporting.
To provide finance support on strategic initiatives and projects undertaken by the business.
To support the Finance Director in discharging their accountabilities and represent the Finance Director where required.
To manage the relevant teams within the department.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Experience of Financial Services regulatory environment
Experience in a major insurance operation
Experience of managing technical teams
Experience of working in a range of different technical roles across a life assurance finance function
Relevant accounting qualification
Expert knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP reporting requirements and standards.
Detailed knowledge of Solvency II requirements
Detailed knowledge of historic and potential future regulatory trends
Detailed knowledge of industry best practice and good network / links with individuals and external bodies
Detailed knowledge, expertise and experience in financial reporting
Working knowledge of the financial dynamics of the business and how key factors influence the various financial measures
Experience of developing clear, logical and comprehensive executive and board papers
Significant experience of analysing and interpreting complex rules and regulations and applying such knowledge to provide solutions to business problems and issues
