This challenging role will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to apprehend the various businesses of a top-tier investment bank and will be evolving at the forefront of regulatory developments. The position will involve constant interaction with the senior management, business lines, and various compliance teams. Your role
The candidate will assist the Compliance COO in deploying effective governance in the Asia-Pacific region and lead the execution of Asia-Pacific Compliance governance committee:
Asia Business Unit Compliance Committee ("COMCO") The quarterly committee aims to:
- Determine the BU's broad outlines and principles in terms of compliance - Manage Compliance risks and steer the Compliance Plans: review key events, have an overview of the compliance system, main regulatory developments, and status of regulatory projects It is an extensive exercise prepared all through the quarter, with a deep-dive in the functional content to be able to present:
- The recent Compliance incidents and trends - The main risks and how they are addressed - The progress in the Compliance Transformation Plan It involves the most senior group of leaders in the Asia Business Unit e.g. CEO, COO, Regional heads of Business Lines, CFO, CRO, CCO.
Lead the Monthly Compliance update to Regional Management:
On a monthly basis, the quarterly committee aims to inform the Regional management of the latest regulatory matters, especially regulatory updates (new regulations, recent enforcement actions), regulatory inspections, regulatory incidents. This part of the role consists in leading the collection of facts across the region, execute some consistency controls and challenge, restitute the key messages in the form of a written report suitable for senior management.
Lead the ASIA Compliance incident & breaches committee:
On a monthly basis, organize the Compliance review of the recent incidents. This part of the role consists in leading the collection of facts across the region, review / amend / enrich the incidents categorization, ensure that we detect patterns and relevant action plans are triggered. It also includes the validation of the escalation of a selection of cases to the global compliance incident committee and to the ASIA COMCO.
Lead the ASIA contribution to the Regulatory Relationship committee:
Every 6 weeks, a global committee reviews the status of regulatory relationships across the globe. This part of the role consist in leading the contribution from ASIA.
A set of KPIs/KPIs are used to steer the Compliance risk. This activity consists in consolidating these indicators and organize the proper restitution to management.
Contribute to other committees if required
There are thematic committees to which Compliance Asia is required to contribute. A recent example is the Asia BU Strategic Steering with DGLE.

Management Presentations for Asia Compliance
A recent example is the presentation of Legal, Audit, Risk and Credit Group, Compliance in Asia Pacific for the Societe Generale group chairman.
Presentations for Regulators
Senior visitors as well as events (e.g. re-organization) leads to opportunities to proactively interact with our regulators in the region. Those opportunities typically lead to meetings with senior management of the bank and requires to build presentation materials, that are meaningful from a regulators' perspective.
The department has a set of internal communications (e.g. visitors, appointments etc.) that would be under the supervision of the candidate.
Asia Compliance regularly holds a seminar with ~80 participants from the region, as well as senior Compliance managers from other regions (e..g in 2018 Group Compliance Head, Compliance Chief Officer for Americas, Compliance Global Head of Financial Crime). The event is a landmark event for the department, which is recognized for the quality of its content and execution. It requires an extensive work to design the event: selection of topics and internal/external distinguished speakers, coordination, administration and animation.
Maintain our inventory of compliance presentation materials
Continuous improvement and automation:
The candidate will be responsible to improve and automate the processes related to his/her assignments. Concrete examples of improvements include: - The review and improvement of the incidents declaration process (procedure update, training, review/upgrade of the registry system). - The launch of a new process to collect and restitute Compliance Culture & Conduct indicators
Being reasonably small, the entire COO office operates as a group with an entrepreneurship mindset. Our primary focus is to support CIB-type of activities (global capital markets, global structured finance and corporate finance) across the region.

The candidate will be a member of the Hong Kong COO team. He/she will be reporting to the Compliance Regional COO (Chief Operating Officer) for Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong.
The candidate will focus on some the topics with most exposure to Management: Compliance governance (towards the management of the bank), and will get the opportunity to intervene in the aspects of COO activity especially Steering of APAC Compliance and Compliance department transformation.
