The CMPA’s Investment Department manages a $5.5B global portfolio across traditional and alternative asset classes with exposures to a broad array of investment solutions and strategies. The department also supports the Investment Committee in determining the strategic asset mix to help the Association, an essential component of the Canadian healthcare system, meet its objectives.
The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with 20 other high performing and engaged investment professionals. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take initiative and grow professionally.
Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, the Senior Performance and Risk Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely generation of reporting packages used by the investment department in their oversight functions including responding to frequent ad-hoc request and analysis.
This process includes a significant amount of manual gathering and consolidation of data. The incumbent will more importantly analyse the data and reports to provide commentaries relating to both performance and risk highlighting areas of focus or interest. Significant use of a Bloomberg terminal will be required to generate the required data and reports.
The incumbent will monitor the post-trade processes of derivatives contracts including proper matching and netting. This also involves maintaining such positions in a risk and valuation system.
Under the guidance of the Senior Risk Manager, the Senior Performance and Risk Analyst will exercise significant autonomy and apply judgment to resolve issues and meet deliverables.
The main activities in this position include:
Produce performance and risk reports using a combination of internal and off-the-shelf solutions
Monitor and facilitate investments operations such as trade matching and netting confirmations relating to derivatives positions
Identify, investigate and resolve possible discrepancies relating to the above functions
Provide commentaries to support discussions and understanding of the portfolio performance and exposures
Participate in the testing and enhancements of our various internal processes and solutions
Maintaining concise but effective documentation
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Four-year degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics or Mathematics
FRM, CIPM would be an asset
8 years of experience in the asset management industry
2 year of experience calculating and interpreting performance and risk metrics
Experience managing, settling or monitoring derivatives positions would be an asset
Experience with Bloomberg, SQL, SSRS, VBA, Python, or R would be an asset
Experience in being part of a small team would be an asset

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment
Ability to investigate and resolve issues independently
Self-motivated with the ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks
Strong analytical skills
This is a full-time permanent opportunity
This position is classified at Level 10 - salary range is $90,918 to $121,830
Selected candidates will be required to complete a skills assessment
