Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for AML Risk Governance globally, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Key Accountabilities:
Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Responsible for developing and maintaining an objective view on the state of AML compliance across the enterprise.
Oversight and governance for AML Risk Monitoring and testing functions, AML Issues Management, AML risk assessment and program effectiveness assessments including Sanctions where applicable.
Coordination and preparation of executive level, committee, and Board AML and Sanctions reporting, updates and MIS.
Provides meaningful guidance and insights to leaders, with strategic advice on related action plans and reporting on progress against remediation.
Ensures there is an adequate tracking mechanism in place to monitor industry trends, regulatory pronouncements and changes in the law, communicating these to affected units with accompanying policy (if applicable), and maintaining enterprise-wide policies current with changing requirements.
Actively participates in industry and public consultations to manage all relevant regulatory changes required, ensuring sufficient and early engagement with regulators and industry subject matter experts. Informs the CAMLO on developing trends and their impact on operations and recommends courses of action.
Responsible for development and delivery of regular reporting focused on industry trends, inclusive of proactive identification and assessment of emerging risks across business units globally. Delivers a consolidated view of AML and Regulatory risks for CAMLO, senior and executive management.
Collaborates closely with senior leaders across both AML (1st and 2nd Line) and Financial Crimes.
Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
Experience / Education:
10+ years of experience working in AML or financial crimes in the bank
Technical knowledge of AML, ABC, Fraud, Sanctions, KYC, customer data
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to communicate effectively with Compliance, the line of business, technical team members etc.
Knowledge of regulations impacting the financial services sector
Proven experience working directly with regulators
ACAMS certification preferred
