The Legal Counsel fulfilling this role will be part of the Group Legal and Compliance team for T&O, SU and IP, providing legal advisory and transactional support to the Bank on all legal, regulatory and compliance related matters. IP asset management (including enforcement, protection and strategy) will also be required to support the Bank's IP portfolio.
Provide strategic, advisory, transactional and commercial support on the legal and local regulatory requirements related to technology, operations, sourcing and IP asset management in Singapore and DBS Bank's core markets in the region, with a primary focus on technology infrastructure and services. Support the business functions in developing and managing the legal and compliance risks related to outsourcing and sourcing arrangements (including intra-group arrangements). Negotiate large-scale technology and sourcing transactions, concentrating on international and domestic software application development and maintenance, technology infrastructure, general information technology, and financial services business process outsourcings. Handle cross-border contractual negotiations and contribute to the drafting of commercial tenders and evaluation and assessment of supplier responses. Have a working understanding of relevant data governance laws and its impact on group sourcing transactions. Advise on complex software licensing and open source software related legal and compliance matters. Help identify, protect and manage the Bank's intellectual property portfolio. Manage contentious matters related to technology and IP operations from a regional perspective. Review and approve new digital product initiatives and support the new product approval processes.
A qualified lawyer with a solid academic and training background. Strong English language skills. More than 5 to 7 years of PQE in Technology, Media & Telco (TMT) and general commercial practice groups in a high caliber law firm, in-house legal role of a financial institution or in-house legal role at an international technology company. A strong team player who thrives in a collaborative working environment. Demonstrates commercial-mindedness, initiative and adds value to their stakeholders and colleagues when advising on legal and regulatory risk management issues. Has the ability to quickly and succinctly communicate their legal advice on complex matters to enable stakeholders and colleagues to easily understand the core legal and regulatory risks and issues they need to manage.
