The role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and has the following responsibilities:
Management responsibility for the Octopus finance function
Oversight of financial and regulatory reporting
Monthly presentation to the Board and Executive Committee of the Group's performance across all business units
Build out and invest in the Financial Planning and Analysis function including:
Preparation and finalisation of monthly MI reporting suite and analytics for the Board and Executive Committee - providing deep and meaningful analytics across the businesses in all aspects of financial business performance
Build strong and robust reporting models that support changing business requirements
Lead the analytical cycle and areas of focus for senior management, supporting the Board and Executive for senior meetings
Work across the Finance team and firm to gather appropriate information to build insightful MI
Key business partner and advisor to the businesses and finance team - work across the businesses to understand business drivers of performance
Build out of Forecast and Multi Year Strategic Plan
Co-ordination of ad hoc work across the team relating to MI including monthly reforecasting
Central controlling function for the various businesses within the Octopus Group (some of these businesses are start-ups across a diverse range of sectors). Cover all aspects, including performance and commerciality, cash flows & funding, reporting and technical support
Responsible for the formulation of the Octopus annual group budget and three year strategic outlook, monthly re-forecasting, monitoring all risks to EBITDA across the Group to ensure the Group reaches its annual group target EBITDA each year
Leadership, management and mentoring of the finance teams (team of 25+)
Responsible for all external relationships with external audit and tax compliance, including the management of the Group audit process
Responsible for all financial systems development and investment
Lead sponsor and co-ordinator of Finance Transformation
Candidates will need to be qualified accountants with strong technical knowledge and a hands-on approach, probably from an FCA regulated business or similar (desirable but not essential). They must be adaptable, flexible and up for a challenge in a broad and varied role which includes both established businesses and start-ups across a range of sectors. They must also be agile and decisive with the ability to make decisions and give opinions based on the knowledge that they have to hand.
They must be highly energetic and display strong team building and leadership qualities from the start. Previous managerial experience is a must along with a proven track record in a similar size business.
Stakeholder management is critical to this role along with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels both internally and externally.

Be extremely well organised and with the ability to prioritise workload, always being one step ahead
Be used to working in a continuously changing environment, both in terms of high growth, diversification and constantly evolving internal corporate structures
Need to be very comfortable working within a complex corporate matrix structure (Octopus more complex than most given current size) and with multiple stakeholders
Be collaborative and have an inclusive working style
Have an ability to bring technical topics to life for others to embrace
Have significant experience of managing others and supporting team goals and career development
