The Role Responsibilities
To manage and control all matters relating to non-performing loans by constantly reviewing effectiveness of Recoveries procedures and strategies, and ensuring early Recovery actions are taken to maximise prospects of full recovery. Executes the Collection & Recoveries strategy. Highlights and analyses credit failures in lending as first level of contact with these issues and providing lessons learnt to improve the credit origination and approval process.
Ensuring that the recoveries department is managed efficiently so that it is able to meet business objectives in maximising recoveries;
Ensuring that persistent and recovery action is taken against charged off accounts and preventing operational loses.
Managing recoveries expenses proactively by regularly reviewing the reasons for variances against budget and taking steps to ensure the final expense is within the budget and or forecast.
Embedment, Execution and Implementation of the Bank's approved Collections / Recoveries strategy.
Formulate strategies to optimize recoveries operational metrics and ensuring that the team can contact and collect from charged off accounts in a timely manner.
Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates
Ensure proper use of the Africa collections processes and strategies
Manage the Collections systems and use daily MI to manage the team
Follow the HR processes to manage and improve performance on a daily basis
People and Talent
Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans.
Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
Manage and motivate direct/indirect reports to ensure optimum recoveries
Ensure minimal staff turnover

Own and execute controls for all the processes under recoveries process universe.
Ensure compliance with the Group's standards and regulatory requirements pertaining to Money laundering and KYC
