Our teams identify and manage the delivery of a broad range of financial solutions to its customers, sourced via the Bank's product teams in Business & Private Bank (B&PB), Wealth Management and Retail Banking Services. The objective of Small Business Banking (SBB) is to provide customised products and services to clients with commercial finance, transactional banking, foreign exchange and wealth management needs.
Your Team Small Business Banking (SBB) builds relationships and provides services to approximately 800,000 business customers nationally. You will be part of a team who have a diverse mix of experience, collaborate well and hold our customers at the center of everything we do. We are committed to understanding our customers, and delivering insights and creative solutions, to drive sustainable business growth.
Our Small Business Team meet the needs of Small Business customers through proactive client contact and opportunity origination and fulfilment in the sub $100k space. Our Small Business Specialists are seated in the branch network and offer a personalised face-to-face service for small business customers.
Your Impact & Contribution The Credit Manager is responsible for supporting the Small Business leadership team to enable a strong risk culture and credit capability amongst their Business Bankers. The outcomes of the Credit Manager's contribution will be reflected in excellent Credit Assurance and Hindsight results & feedback from Audit.
The Credit Manager will work proactively with the Small Business leadership team to ensure credit capability, risk awareness and strong risk culture. The Credit Manager will also provide advice and guidance to the on Operational Risk and Compliance as required. The Credit Manager will also support the broader network of Small Business Specialists as they upskill in credit capability and become accredited as 2.1 BizExpress Users.
Your Reporting Lines The Credit Manager will report to the Team Manager - Small Business Operations and Credit Support (TBC).
The Credit Manager will be responsible for supporting the Small Business leadership team to enable a strong risk culture and credit capability within their team. The Credit Manager will support skill assessment and identification of key areas of skill gaps at both an individual and team level.
This will be achieved through delivery of a targeted weekly credit capability upskill program, feedback & targeted coaching, application testing to help inform ongoing training and coaching of Business Bankers within the Small Business. The Credit Manager will draw on Credit Academy and BPB learning programs to support closure of skill gaps and support efficient induction of new Business Bankers.
The Credit Manager will input into deal discussions for origination as well as deteriorating credits, as required.
Provide advice to teams on management of incidents and issues, including coordination of root cause analysis
Monitor the teams in life-credit activities and conduct deep dives into areas of potential concerns identified through loss incidents, trends, emerging risks or industry data. Provide suggestions to improve the control environment
The Credit Manager will also support the broader network of Small Business Specialists as they upskill in credit capability and become accredited as 2.1 BizExpress Users as well as provide CAA approval and sign off for bankers who do not currently hold a CAA.
Your Skills & Experience
Experienced in Commercial lending with excellent credit risk policy, process and system knowledge
An understanding of end to end business lending process
Strong oral and written communication skills
A strong understanding of the risk and control environment
Demonstrated experience in coaching and developing staff in technical capability.
Structured planning and execution
Commercial judgement in a high paced, evolving environment
Sound risk management knowledge and experience
Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and to achieve deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Credit Approval Authority (CAA) Level 2
Degree qualified in Business, Accounting or similar qualification
Higher academic qualifications well regarded
