The position is based in Northern Trust's offices in Canary Wharf, London
ROLE Reporting to the Head of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Operations, the AML Operations Team Leader supervises a team of AML professionals to ensure effective performance and oversight of all AML processes and controls, which includes; customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, high risk and PEP investor reviews, Sanctions/PEP/Adverse Media screening, periodic and trigger event reviews, transaction monitoring, AML/fraud investigations, client remediation projects and AML training.
Manage direct reports within the AML Operations team, driving performance and engagement
Delegate for the Head of AML Operations in senior management, business and client meetings
Lead/support development and implementation of the anti-financial crime framework
Fulfil a subject matter expert (SME) role for the AML Operations function
Oversee, direct and quality assure work activities of the AML Operations Team
Maintain an effective oversight framework for overseas processing locations/centres
Ensure KPIs are achieved across AML/KYC processes; develop MI/reporting to oversee performance
Deliver excellent customer service, directly, and through supervision of the team's activities
Perform deep dive analysis of end to end processes and controls to ensure we are always operating in the most efficient manner; drive initiatives to enhance or streamline processes
Ensure risk issues are identified and escalated in a timely manner; take corrective actions as required
Ensure AML Operations Team members have appropriate skills and capabilities to perform their roles
Undertake regular 1-1s and touch-points to deliver constructive feedback to help team members to grow and develop
Oversee team mailboxes to ensure requests are handled / escalated in a timely manner
Manage and execute client projects and change initiatives related to financial crime
Support audit and assurance reviews resolcing any findings in a timely manner
Drive a positive team culture for AML operations
Manage resource and capacity planning
Maintain a close working relationship with other areas of Transfer Agency, Financial Crime Compliance and Relationship Management
Maintain an up to date knowledge of AML regulation and best practice and use this knowledge to promote enhancements to Northern Trust's AML processes and procedures
Attend industry forums as representative for Northern Trust SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Good understanding of UK financial services and regulation, especially the area of anti-financial crime
Good understanding of corporate structures such as trusts, charities, pensions, private companies, including identification of ultimate beneficial owners
Competent in delivering excellent customer service and high quality outcomes
