Senior Client Relations Officer

AIIB's Investment Operations are divided into two regional teams, 1 and 2. Each regional team is led by a Vice President (VP) and reporting staff includes client relations specialists, technical specialists and bankers. Region 1 is responsible for South East Asia and South Asia (except Pakistan and Afghanistan), while Region 2 covers Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asia, East Asia, West Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America.
The Client Relations and Programming Unit is responsible for engaging with Bank's clients including both public and private sectors for business development and long term relationships. It's major functions include working with our members to develop project pipeline in close coordination with the Technical and Banking departments, preparing country programming memo in consultation with clients, conducting high-level and working level visits and generating country-level intelligence.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Senior Client Relations Officer include, but are not limited to, the following:
Research, collect and sort out information on clients regarding their infrastructure development and finance needs and opportunities for infrastructure investment;
Assist the management of the Client Relations and Programming Unit in proactive engagement in high-level dialogue and communication with clients and local consultants/agents; Effectively initiate, manage and cultivate relationships with clients
Develop and maintain country programming for assigned clients;
Maintain contacts and dialogues with international financial institutions and bilateral development agencies in client countries on co-financing opportunities.
Prepare relevant documents and assist in selecting and managing the work of the local country agents/consultants;
Coordinate and participate in business trips to client countries and prepare documents in relation to country consultations and other engagement activities including client/country briefs for AIIB management;
Assist in coordinating with the internal relevant departments of AIIB for sharing information on clients' needs and requests involving new and existing investment opportunities; Organize regular internal discussions within the Bank on issues related to client relations and programming;
Coordinate and monitor the internal process to ensure a prompt and effective response to clients' enquiries and concerns;
Assist in building the client relationship team and in coaching and mentoring the junior staff; and
Perform ad hoc tasks assigned by the CRP Unit management.
Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant working experience in government relations and/or coverage/sales divisions or resident missions of the financial institutions or economic/finance governmental bodies. Experience with certain countries of South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives) is a plus.
Specific professional experience in identifying, assessing and discussing investment and/or financial opportunities with governments, private sectors and stakeholders of different countries and cultures.
Ability and interest in interacting proactively and directly with senior government officials, financial partners and senior managers of potential clients.
Creativity and keen interest in finding solutions in complex negotiations; strong analytical skills.
General familiarity with issues in development finance and in the infrastructure sector.
Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, intercultural and partnership skills; a team player with experience and ability to work effectively in a multicultural organization.
Willing to travel extensively.
Has the highest level of personal integrity and accountability.
Superior written and verbal communication skills in English, with a demonstrated ability to think strategically and synthesize complex issues, as translated into preparing effective oral and written briefs.
Master's degree in fields relevant to the AIIB's operations, such as economics, finance, public policy, business administration, international relations, social sciences or equivalent from a reputable university.
