The Senior IL, acting as a conduit for Investments, supports all stages of the client life cycle by leveraging deep business / technical knowledge to manage the complex investment-related, operational activities. This is achieved by ensuring operational readiness of client portfolios, partnering with analytical support teams, informing key stakeholders of changes to portfolios, and facilitating complex investment strategy changes. The Senior IL identifies broader, asset-class themes and implements solutions that impact the larger Investment Liaison team. These responsibilities enable investments to focus on portfolio management, not operational matters, to deliver solid performance results for our clients.
As the senior operational point of contact for Investments (PM, PS) and advanced subject matter expert for assigned investment strategies, the Senior IL uses sound business judgment to ensure operational readiness of proprietary products and client portfolios. The Senior IL enables the investment process through analyzing cash flows, communicating corporate action decisions, executing the most complex discretionary trades, etc. Activities, performed autonomously, include reviewing investment guidelines, establishing and monitoring paper portfolios, maintaining custom industry structures, and monitoring unique client requirements. The Senior IL provides support for Investment Steering Committees and various Boards, including creating presentation materials.
Creates and ensures accuracy of portfolio-level data and analysis to support most complex investment decisions and client inquiries. The Senior IL identifies trends and, working with appropriate partners, develops and implements new reporting and analysis to meeting changing Investment or client needs. Responsible for ensuring accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and timely distribution of attribution and risk data (FI and AA) and customized portfolio information. The Senior IL identifies key trends for the investment strategy based upon regular interaction with Investments. S/he develops ad hoc, non-standard analysis using custom benchmarks, custom asset diversifications, and non-standard returns to support sales and client retention. The Senior IL is involved with product development, including analyzing investment guidelines, participating in product launch task forces, and is responsible for updating portfolio models for new investment products and conducting scenario analysis for multi-sector/asset allocation products.
Facilitates timely resolution of the most complex investment-related issues to minimize risk and compliance errors. The Senior IL stays informed about regulatory changes that may impact their investment strategy and the asset class (Asset Allocation, Fixed Income, Equity) and proactively shares information with the team and Investments. Working with their manager, the Senior IL creates an implementation and communication plan. Ensures investment decisions and client portfolios adhere to regulatory policies, industry standards, and compliance guidelines. This includes ensuring alignment across client and TRP product guidelines; escalating compliance warnings to PM and GCO, as necessary, and following through to resolution including client communication; managing GIPS composite review to retain the firm's GIPS compliant status.
Acting on behalf of Investments, the Senior IL is responsible for communicating investment strategy changes to Marketing and Operations teams. This includes managing benchmark changes, investing in new markets or instrument types, PM and investment analyst changes. The Senior IL acts with authority in determining the impact to reporting and websites. The Senior IL independently leads cross-functional teams to ensure changes are accommodated timely.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting or MBA graduate
CFA charter holder preferred
Experience with using vendor applications and market data services (e.g., FactSet, Zephyr and others)
5-7 years relevant experience in a financial or investment operations environment
Advanced understanding of investment principles, asset classes and financial markets and their application to TRP investment, operational, and marketing processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to influence changes amongst peers to achieve desired results
Advanced knowledge of accounting, trading, performance, and risk concepts
Demonstrated advanced analytical and quantitative modeling skills to develop new reporting that enhance the investment process.
Demonstrated negotiation skills with all levels of associates to motivate them to take action.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in investment and regulatory reporting.
Ability to trouble-shoot and resolve technology issues including building Excel macros, Access database reporting, and data extraction and interpretation from vendor applications (eg. Bloomberg, Morningstar, POINT).
Strong organization and planning skills to guide and direct cross-functional teams.
Able to independently prioritize and identify trade-offs for multiple client and stakeholder needs in an extremely fast-paced, high-volume environment with changing priorities
Able to work effectively with business partner managers and decision makers to influence change
Able to breakdown complex issues and products into tangible action items
