As a Strategy Director on the Global Product Team, you will have a leadership role on a fast-paced team that is tasked with identifying and building upon the most attractive product strategies for SVB. In this role, you will partner closely with the Chief Product Officer and the Head of Product Strategy & Planning to develop strategies that shape SVB's global product roadmap and offerings. You and your team will play a vital role in defining and supporting our overall product strategy, analyzing market opportunities, participating in ad-hoc special projects and supporting product level deep dives. As a Product Strategy Director, you will lead a team, act as an expert in strategic thinking and engage directly with C-level leaders at SVB. You will partner with senior leaders across the organization to develop product- and division-level strategies for a wide range of global offerings, including Lending, Liquidity Management, FX, Trade Finance, Product Sales, Merchant Services, Corporate Card and Cash Management. This role will be located in our downtown San Francisco office.
Duties will likely involve:
Develop and grow a high caliber team, most of whom are former management consultants
Provide thought leadership and ad-hoc strategic advisory to leaders across the product division
Develop and recommend creative product innovations, and specific strategies for optimizing existing products and financial performance - including market development, investment prioritization, and other growth strategies
Lead team to deliver on multiple strategy projects in parallel, including driving prioritization and career development
Structure and solve high-impact business problems and relay recommendations in easy to understand stories appropriate for executive and board level audiences
Monitor and provide insights on market dynamics, macro/microeconomic factors, financials, competitive implications, growth opportunities & threats
Work closely with Head of Product Strategy and Chief Product Office to identify high leverage initiatives
Distill complex issues to their most essential aspects and synthesize disparate inputs to identify critical insights and develop compelling recommendations
Oversee rigorous, data-driven analysis to diagnose the current state and model future outcomes for business and product performance
Build a strong feedback loop with partner teams as your recommendations move into execution and implementation
Ensure strategic and financial soundness of recommendations made by you and your team
Build strong relationships at senior levels across SVB to identify cross-team strategic opportunities and risks
8+ years of experience, (preferably in management consulting or corporate strategy) and 4+ years of people management experience
MBA or other relevant advanced degree
Excellent problem-solving skills, including structuring ambiguous problems, thinking creatively, generating and testing hypotheses, and providing actionable recommendations
Excellent relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting at C-Level
Excellent critical thinking skills and experience with multiple business models
Experience leading teams that perform complex analysis, financial modeling, and data aggregation
Ability to lead, motivate and develop both formal and informal teams to deliver on tight-timelines and complex projects
Ability to connect complex and disparate data, insights and observations to form coherent hypotheses, recommendations and plans
Experience working with technology and digital products preferred
