Overview of Role This role will be part of the Small-Small/Mid Cap team based in New York. The role will contribute sound analytical skills and investment decisions to a team effort that consistently outperforms relevant benchmarks in a risk-controlled manner. The position will help translate our investment track record into growth in firm AUM and revenues though consultant and client interaction.
Analyze and make buy/sell recommendations on Small - Mid Cap Technology stocks, covering all aspects of the sector for Small - Mid Cap Core, Value and Growth strategies, whose goals are to out-perform their respective benchmarks
Review, analyze and present daily news and investment opinions on Small -Mid Cap stocks in the Technology sector
Maintain current knowledge of business fundamentals of covered companies in assigned sector (Technology) and potentially other sectors
Support marketing and client service efforts through participation in due diligence meetings, client reviews and final presentations
Function as back-up analyst and portfolio manager to other Small - Small/Mid Cap team members
Maintain compliance with all Rothschild & Co AM policies and procedures
Maintain familiarity of and compliance with both client and Rothschild & Co AM investment guidelines
Maintain broader perspective about investing and macroeconomic climates
Interact with company managements and sell-side analysts to assist in investment decision-making
Assist as requested in making both quarterly and other presentations on product performance to sales and marketing colleagues, consultants, and external investors
Assume other duties as requested or assigned
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required
Master's Degree preferred
Experience, Skills and Competencies Required
The ideal candidate will likely have 5+ years in equity research in Technology and/or including other sectors-buy-side and/or sell-side
Possess a track record of alpha generation / performance, ideally documented through portfolio attribution with demonstrable investment acumen and knowledge of the Technology sector as it relates to Small -Mid Cap Technology sector coverage
Experience covering multiple sectors, preferably in the industries mentioned above
Ability to quickly and collaboratively add value with a strong alignment to Rothschild & Co's process and platform from the outset
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills along with a demonstrated team orientation and collaborative nature
Willingness to learn from others as well as confidence in ability to convey conviction about own ideas
High degree of integrity, initiative, results orientation and entrepreneurial attitude
Patience to deal with highly entrepreneurial and strong-minded investment colleagues while possessing the appropriate confidence and maturity to promote individually developed ideas
Excellent communication, quantitative and presentation skills and an ability to analyze, explain and discuss sophisticated investment products and investment strategies with both other investment team members as well as current and future clients
Ability to contribute outside scope of defined responsibilities
Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and comfort with technology
