Job Title: Compliance Officer, AVP
Job Description: The Legal & Compliance department seeks a mid-level compliance officer to support the complex and growing compliance needs of Blackstone Insurance Solutions (BIS), and to assist with the existing Private Wealth Solutions (PWS) compliance program. The role will focus on assisting existing team members in compliance functions including: (i) policy work for both BIS (US and Europe) and PWS, (ii) conflicts management and tracking, (iii) investment and expense allocations and testing, (iv) risk management testing and monitoring, (v) 206(4)-7 and other ongoing compliance program monitoring (vi) supporting the LP Communications team on marketing reviews for rapidly growing BIS product set and PWS product development and (vii) providing support to the oversight of BIS' governance program. Primary job responsibilities include:
Assisting in all compliance and regulatory matters: SEC and CFTC registrations, ERISA, and federal, state and international securities laws (including the Investment Advisors Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933 and the Exchange Act of 1934)
Preparing regular reports to investment teams and senior management regarding compliance matters
Coordinating various SEC, CFTC and foreign regulatory filings
Reviewing marketing and client materials, including pitch books, regular limited partner reporting, and due diligence materials, with a particular focus on foreign marketing issues including AIFMD
Working with other members of the compliance team for these businesses to ensure that policies and procedures and periodic regulatory filings (e.g., Form ADV, Form PF) are current, and to identify and address areas where policies and procedures need to be developed or amended
Focusing on internal compliance policy review, including ongoing assessments, assisting with annual 206(4)-7 compliance review, internal audit reviews and ongoing or ad hoc reviews
Working with in-house and external counsel to monitor, and then implement responses to, regulatory developments that impact the businesses
Tracking new product launch compliance items
Working with Blackstone compliance regarding firm wide compliance issues and projects; and special compliance/internal audit-related projects as necessary
Assisting in the development of training materials
Qualifications: Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent, and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have:
At least 3-5 years' directly related experience in a legal or compliance role in a private equity fund environment or a law firm private funds practice with a substantial knowledge of relevant rules and regulations and the day-to-day compliance affairs of private funds (registered fund experience a plus)
An undergraduate degree is required and a law degree is a plus
Exposure to a wide variety of transactions and sophisticated products as well as an ability to anticipate potential issues inherent in serving large, multi-dimensional client relationships
Demonstrated project management skills and accountability for delivery
Demonstrated ability to write effectively
Superior organizational skills
Strong communication skills
Natural ability to develop relationships, internally and externally
