The Reserves Management Research Unit (RMRU) of GIC's Economics & Investment Strategy department (EIS) is a team of professionals who focus on reserves management matters. RMRU defines its research agenda based on the needs of the reserves management mandate, and conducts in-depth research to support policy decision-making and implementation. RMRU institutionalizes the knowledge and capability for the reserves management framework and process.
To continually enhance the team's capabilities, RMRU is seeking a Senior Vice President to conduct research and development of existing and new macroeconomic, market, and investment policy models to inform the analysis and optimization of the reserves under management. This is a high-impact position that will work closely with GIC leadership to refine and optimize investments and policy, while also ensuring effective implementation.
Long-term capital market analysis - Spearhead research of reserves management, fundamental risk and return drivers, as well as environmental dependencies.
Provide robust quantitative substantiation, as well as strong economic intuition in support of risk and return models.
Support ongoing portfolio optimization research and implementation, as new return streams are identified and incorporated.
Consistently refine a robust research agenda, prioritizing areas of highest impact to investment policy for reserves management.
Continually monitor, evaluate, and adopt industry best practice.
Build and cultivate strong cross-functional relationships - Work effectively with colleagues across multiple functions for the reserves management framework.
Effectively communicate relevant and insightful analyses, conclusions, implications and recommendations to colleagues and senior stakeholders.
Foster close dialogue and partnerships with external contacts - peer institutions, asset managers, other industry contacts, policymakers and academics.
Minimum of 10 years' relevant industry experience; relevant finance, actuarial, economics, engineering and mathematics qualifications
Global multi-asset and liability modeling expertise
Robust analytical capability; ability to think broadly and deeply about policy issues
Intellectually curious and creative
Research and project management experience and skills; excellent attention to detail
Strong foundation in long-term fundamental investing and portfolio management; experience with private markets is a plus
Collaborative team player and respected leader; encouraging of a learning environment
Culturally aware, attuned to sensitivities, an agile and adaptable mindset
Strong impact and influencing skills, grounded on authenticity, an effective personal style and poise, rather than position and hierarchical authority
