Advisory responsibility with regard to a broad range of legal subjects including financial regulations, contracts, intellectual property, company law, tax, employment and litigation
Assist the General Counsel in conducting legal analyses of specific matters that arise relative to the company governance and operations.
Provide counsel and support for dispute resolution and prevention, contract review, document review, compliance, internal investigations, training, risk assessments, service liability, protection of proprietary information and data, commercial negotiation and mediation.
Provide legal advice to management and the business units of the firm in relation to corporate activities, regulatory issues, risks and compliance
Ensure regulatory compliance and monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly
Monitor, plan and implement programs for changes in legislation affecting the operations of the firm and provide general operations and compliance support to business units
Partner with the risk & compliance team to provide ongoing support in monitoring the changes in compliance arising in Hong Kong and global industry landscape, such as Money Service Operator licenses
Liaise with external regulatory authorities and external counsel, project management over litigation matters
Ensure that global and domestic legal template documents are fit for purposes and promote standardization across the Group
Research Hong Kong and other country laws and regulations
Ideal candidate must have:
Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience.
Degree holder in Legal (LLB/J.D.) or equivalent
Paralegal or licensed solicitor
Qualified solicitor with 3-6 years PQE, ideally having exposure to both law firm and commercial environment
Sound judgment of business practices, regulatory relationship management and reputational risk
Proficiency in spoken and written English & Chinese, including Mandarin
Well-organized, detail-oriented, diplomatic and with excellent communication skills (verbal and in writing
Experience in Hong Kong law and a familiarity with PRC law
Ability to approach situations and challenges with a sense of humor
Experience in handling PRC-related corporate matters is an advantage
