How will I help?
As an Underwriter within Lenders Mortgage Insurance, you will assess the risk of loans that are outside the delegated underwriting authority granted to Westpac Group Lending and Credit staff. You'll be approving cover of these loans where they are considered to be an acceptable risk and will calculate LMI premiums for new loans and top up loans.
This position is a key link between the Banks Distribution channels and the Underwriting team. You will need to be able to offer viable solutions and alternatives to lending staff when assessing and approving LMI applications.

What do I need to succeed?
Firstly, you'll have extensive experience working within Lenders Mortgage Insurance with detailed knowledge of consumer lending policies and procedures as well as an understanding of Bank Lending Origination systems. You'll have experience of underwriting risk proposals, LMI premium calculation and quotations, maintaining activity register's and monitoring & reviewing policy and procedures where you will have recommended changes to Underwriting Manager and Policy Manager where appropriate
You will also have a strong track record of assisting with structuring applications and interpreting underwriting standards alongside risk & loss mitigation where you will have taken an active role in identifying and monitoring high delinquent introducers.
