Debt and Portfolio Management (D&PM) is responsible for originating, underwriting and managing a portfolio of loans across a wide range of client relationships. D&PM leads the due diligence, underwriting, approval and closing process, and partners with the Relationship Management Team in the delivery and negotiation of credit solutions to prospects and clients. D&PM is also responsible for proactive portfolio management, including maintaining credit quality and profitability targets, as well as remaining abreast of market, sector and competitive trends, and innovating and evolving credit solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of the market.
The Head of D&PM is a ccountable for overseeing a large organization responsible for structuring, underwriting, closing and managing a loan portfolio. The Head of will lead and motivate a team of Market Managers responsible for leading multiple lending teams managing all aspects of lending and potfolio management for a wide range of borrower relationships spread across multiple industry sectors and geographic regions. Responsible for allocating appropriate resources to industry sectors or geographic regions required to manage expansive loan portfolios and execute on new lending opportunities within active pipelines. Actively assists Market Manager's efforts in structuring, underwriting, closing and manging the most complex new and existing lending opportunities within the portfolio. Recruits, interviews and makes hiring decisions. Sets goals, allocates resources and manages workloads across the D&PM organization. Responsible for supporting the development of skills and expertise within D&PM, including the development and retention of top talent for SVB. Leads development and delivery of insights on loan types and credit/performance trends in sectors/sub-sectors. Engages actively with partners in Relationship Management, Credit Administration and other functional areas to ensure alignment of approach, alignment on credit appetite, innovation of credit solutions and acheivement of desired client outcomes. Fosters seamless working relationships across vertical and horizontal teams. Serves as an ambassador of SVB Technology Banking as appropriate. Collaborates with colleagues across Credit Solutions to set strategic vision and establish initiatives for D&PM organization to execute.
Highly skilled at managing and leading a team of senior managers overseeing lending teams responsible for structuring, negotiating, closing and managing loan portfolios. Exercises judgment and authority prudently and with proper balance for the best interests of the clients and SVB. Ensures that resources are properly deployed for optimal outcomes in both pipeline and portfolio. Engages as SME and trusted partner / expert with key stakeholders (internally and externally). Ensures alignment of cross-functional teams to deliver for the client while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with one another. Provides leadership for vertical and horizontal teams.
Leads and manages team of senior managers responsible for managing lending teams engaged in structuring, underwriting and closing credit solutions across multiple industry sectors and geographies. This includes the appropriate allocation of resources and providing expert guidance across the business as well as direct engagement as appropriate in opportunities necessary to drive loan growth goals.
Oversee portfolio management, including the allocation of resources, maintaining credit quality and profitability targets and direct engagement in large and complex credits within the DP&M portfolio.
Leadership and expertise. Remain abreast of market, sector and competitive trends, developing and delivering insights and points of view to Senior Management on loan types and credit/performance trends as well as opportunities to innovate on our credit solutions. Build and maintain strong alignment amongst Relationship Management, Credit Administration and Credit Solutions for approaches to credit within stages and sectors. Fosters strong relationships across entire horizontal team to optimize outcomes and scalability. Communicate and articulate the vision for D&PM team vertically and horizontally to broad constituents throughout the organization.

15+ years of related experience in leveraged finance, investment banking or technology finance.
Bachelor's or equivalent required. MBA preferred but not required.
