The Associate Director will have a lead risk measurement and analytics role in the areas of IFRS9, ICAAP, stress testing and regulatory reporting within Group Risk Management Caribbean Banking (located in Canada).
As a risk measurement and credit analytics expert, this role assists senior management and regional Boards in the understanding of impaired losses, provisioning and the underlying risk in the portfolio.
What will you do?
Lead risk measurement and analytics role within the Risk Measurement team; covering the areas of IFRS9, ICAAP and stress testing.
Responsible for the preparation of material for the Allowance Committee deck and financial reporting; including sharing context, insights on the portfolio and working with the Chair of the Allowance Committee in presenting the material to committee members.
Responsible for the production environment (currently SAS engine) that is used for the calculation of the IFRS9 allowance for impaired and performing loans.
Responsible for the development and execution of the ICAAP frameworks, including development of analytical approaches, reports, submissions to regulators and regional Boards.
Responsible for the development and execution of the stress testing framework. Set proper linkages to enterprise for the purpose of Enterprise Wide Stress Testing exercises.
Lead position for the automation of reporting capabilities across GRM Caribbean Banking; including the process used for financial reporting, delinquency and regulatory reports.
Work collaboratively with the broader Risk Measurement team in the development of models, overlays, analytical capabilities, data systems, testing exercises and other activities needed to support activities conducted by the Risk Measurement and Stress Testing Analytics team. Keep abreast of macroeconomic, regulatory, accounting and other financial industry developments as they relate to RBC's credit provisioning (both wholesale and retail).
Design and Implement controls around IFRS9 measurement activities. Proactively identify risks and vulnerabilities to guide future stress analyses.
What do you need to succeed?
3+ years of experience which includes 2+ years of analytical experience in a financial institution. Other industry experience will be considered based on applicability. Knowledge on credit risk methodology.
Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as economics, econometrics, finance, statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering and/or a relevant professional qualification, with concentration in quantitative methods.
Ability to manage complex and challenge processes. The position will manage the estimation of expected credit losses across the Caribbean; which currently involve 17 countries, 14 banking entities, 7 operating currencies and 9 central banks. The risk measurement will feed into the 14 financial statements of the banking entities.
Knowledge of a least two statistical/numerical software; such as SAS, R, Matlab, VBA, Stata and/or E-Views. Knowledge of databases structure and management (SQL, SAS, etc.)
Exposure to more than one of the following risk methodology areas is an asset: capital markets and trading, credit risk, structural interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and Basel capital measures.
Knowledge in the areas of stress testing, predictive models and probability distributions, macroeconomics, and international finance is an asset.
