The Role The purpose of the role is to support the Executive Manager Financial Crime in the implementation and execution of the Financial Crime management framework. Further, the role exists to support and advise the First- and Second-Line risk teams in the adoption of the framework as it aligns to the Group Operational Risk Framework (GORF), to act as a centre of excellence for Operational Risk and to support the consistent interpretation and application of the GORF and associated policies.
Support the design and implementation of a fit for purpose financial crime management framework for IAG, encompassing Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF), Sanctions and other related legislation, including common reporting standards. This includes executing an overarching strategy to enable the Group to comply with relevant legislation across the Group's operating regions and relevant cross-border legislation
Provide oversight, challenge and advice for embedding the Financial Crime management framework as well as the overall GORF and Operational Risk practices, through regular contact and dialogue with Risk Advisors, to ensure any issues or concerns are identified, escalated and resolved in a timely manner
Build, implement and embed any required processes and technology solutions to support the management of financial crime
Proactively maintain collaborative relationships with key internal (e.g. Group Risk, Customer Labs and Group Technology Office) and external (e.g. regulators, systems suppliers and industry peers) stakeholders with a view of maintaining alignment with current Group Risk and IAG strategy and requirements.
Monitor and improve the quality and breadth of financial crime data through working with key business stakeholders to develop data sources and build a reporting suite that maximises the consistency, validity and integrity of data used for reporting across the Group
Provide appropriate guidance and independent oversight regarding the strength of the control environment and its alignment with Risk Appetite, including the development and maintenance of a consist set of controls, key risk indicators and risk appetite metrics across the Group
Identify Group-wide themes, issues and emerging risks etc, liaising with Risk Advisors and broader Risk teams to make recommendations and ensure coordinated, pragmatic and effective responses
Support other Risk category owners in understanding how operational risks may impact these categories and collaborate effectively to ensure that these risks are mitigated within Risk Appetite and tolerance levels
Develop and nurture culture and talent across IAG, promote IAG's values and apply IAG's leadership principles in support of IAG's strategic intent
Skills & Experience
Minimum 5+ years of Operational Risk Management experience in a senior role in either first or second line
KYC, AML & Sanctions Knowledge and Experience
Experience implementing or executing a Financial Crime management framework or elements thereof
Experience in the implementation and execution of an Operational Risk Framework in a Financial Services business (Insurance, Banking, Superannuation)
Proven ability to influence a wide stakeholder group
Demonstrated ability to actively keep abreast of changes in external environments and translate into internal environment
Proven ability to work collaboratively across whole of function and broader group to reach a common approach
Proven ability to successfully execute and deliver on complex items within tight deadlines
Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to translate risk theory into practical application which supports uplift in risk maturity
Experience in project delivery, change programs or similar
