Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will serve as the lead ratings analyst for transactions and will be responsible for developing in-depth knowledge of performance and credit data, deal structures, legal documents and cash flows in connection with the surveillance and rating of all RMBS types, re-securitizations and securitizations of other residential mortgage-related products, such as reverse mortgage. Key responsibilities will include quantitative and qualitative analysis of credit quality of RMBS, including an assessment of collateral, transaction structure, legal, operating, and regulatory risks. The candidate will also be responsible for monitoring industry conditions and trends, presenting transactions to rating committees, communicating his or her analysis during internal meetings, identifying and writing accurate and relevant credit research, participating in external outreach, and actively contributing to fostering a culture of excellence at Moody's. The candidate will also be expected to complete various special research projects, develop in-depth knowledge of the RMBS sector and pursue thought leadership initiatives to enhance our analytics, outreach and research impact.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills essential
Strong Excel skills are needed. Modeling skills and ability to perform cash flow analysis or other structured finance analytical tools
Strong analytical orientation
Working knowledge of legal matters involving structuring and operation of structured finance transactions
Sound judgment and highest ethical standards
Capable of developing independent opinions and defending own views
Professional, pro-active, flexible, diligent and dependable
Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business environment
Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Ability to work on own initiative, without the need for close supervision
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, financial engineering or related quantitative field.
3+ years of experience as a structured finance analyst or in related occupation involving credit analysis
Experience in collateral analysis, credit risk and cash flow modeling for RMBS or other structured products such as Structured/ Corp Finance, is desirable
Rating agency related experience
Experience with programming (VBA/SQL) is a plus
