This is an important tax role that manages and supports our growing tax team focusing on managing our domestic and foreign income tax and non-income tax compliance and tax accounting and reporting. You will be working closely with proactive and fast-paced team focused on providing insights and delivery of innovative solutions. The position will build strong relationships with finance function and business line tax counterparts in the US and foreign corporate office.
Manage worldwide GAAP tax provision (federal and foreign) and ASC 740 accounting, including footnotes, disclosures, permanent/temporary differences, discrete items, rate reconciliation, inventory of deferred assets/liabilities, taxes payable and deferred roll forwards/reconciliations, valuation allowances, tax rates, return-to-provision adjustments, and tax journal entries.
Support review of tax compliance with respect to non-U.S. operations, tax credits, tax rates, return-to-provision analysis, tax compliance memos, monitoring worldwide tax compliance, SOX processes, and ensuring that all tax accounts in the financial statements are accurate.
Manage tax reserves (FIN 48 & FAS 5) and related disclosures with respect to non-U.S. operations, including monitoring the tax environment to ensure that the tax reserves are reasonable and lead any voluntary disclosures that may be required.
Responsible for providing forecasts and guidance with respect to U.S. and non-U.S. future effective tax rates and cash taxes.
Responsible for ensuring that all tax accounts/information is properly reflected in the financial statements, including income taxes payable, VAT, GST, deferred assets/liabilities, provision for income taxes (current and deferred provision), tax adjustments in the statement of cash flows and stockholders' equity as well as coordination with the Company's auditors.
Assist with all tax audits with respect to non-U.S. operations and properly responding to all information document requests (IDRs). Also, responsible for reviewing all tax correspondence/inquiries received and responding.
Responsible for monitoring the control environment and ensuring that all SOX controls and procedures are in place and operating effectively while ensuring no deficiencies from a tax perspective.
Support preparation of roadmaps for moving tax planning implementation into the income tax provision and compliance and by early-identifying issues and proposing solutions.
Assist in the implementation of tax planning projects as well as project evaluations.
Responsible for Bank and holding company's federal, state and local tax planning projects including research, analysis, and presentation of conclusions, transaction execution and documentation including tax provision support and tax compliance review.
Manage tax rate and DTA model under Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review ("CCAR") compliance requirement.
Maintain a coordinated line of communication with commercial business and key company resources in the finance and business organizations as business and tax requirements change and make related recommendations.
Establish "best practices" and share information across the company.
Assist in other tax related projects as requested by tax management.
Liaison with operating and commercial management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues.
Act in a lead role in assessing tax planning issues and work closely with Tax Controller on such matters.
Manage and mentor staffs, encourage a collaborative team atmosphere and mentoring staffs includes providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent. Advanced degree (MST/MSA) or CPA preferred.
Minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional corporate tax experience, preferably with a major public accounting firm and multi-national company.
Strong tax technical skills and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of ASC 740 income tax accounting.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ownership of areas of responsibility and accountability in providing accurate and timely deliverables.
Strong project management, vendor management and collaboration skills
Highly motivated individual with ability to multitask and complete deliverables within time constraints and deadlines.
Experience with tax operations and ability to create strong support documentation of functions and drive process improvement.
Action oriented and takes initiative, able to work independently with limited general supervision, effectively prioritize and maintain focused
Jurisdiction familiarity with Europe and Asia.
Experience with FATCA and informational reporting & withholding is desired.
Banking industry experience is a plus, but not required.
CCAR experience is a plus, but not required.
Experience utilizing OneSource Income Tax, OneSource Tax Provision, Thomson Checkpoint, BNA, PeopleSoft products a plus.
